ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS SOFT GLAM PALETTE REVIEW WITH SWATCHES

Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam Palette

The brand new Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam palette does exactly what it promises in its name. It allows for a perfect everyday makeup with many muted mattes & stunning shimmers. There’s a lot of overlap here with both brand’s single eyeshadow releases and Modern Renaissance palette but if you’re new to ABH family, the Soft Glam is where I would start. A complete eyeshadow collection starts with off-white matte, through many transition shades, metallics and ends with matte black. There’s not a shade you’d need to borrow from other palettes when doing your daily makeup & the mirror, it truly is perfect in its own light. Have I sold you on Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam Palette yet?

Similar to Modern Renaissance in more than just shade selection, the velour-like packaging may not be up to everyone’s standards. Inside you’ll find 14 shadows with the mirror priced at £43 here in UK ($42 in US). Sadly it’s yet another release which is a lot more expensive for us in the UK (today’s conversion would be an estimated £30!) but if you take in account customs and delivery... I’m still unsure why we pay so much more given that ABH has launched their own co.uk store... Never mind the packaging or price, as the shadows are truly stunning & a pure joy to work with.

Everything must start somewhere and in Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam palette it starts with Tempera - almost creamy vanilla matte. It’s pigmented and makes setting the base super easy. The first in metallic shimmers is Glistening, a stunning combination of champagne and light vanilla. Apply on it own or wet for true foil finish. Light matte orange in Orange Soda applies smoothly and it’s very pigmented so if you’re using it as a transition shade, a light hand is recommended. I’ve been loving Rose Pink as a spotlight shade, just look at it. I apply it with my finger and top up with a wet brush if needed. Sultry is yet another gorgeous shimmer, this time in pinky cranberry. Again you can apply it wet for more out there finish but I really like to blow it up with a fluffy brush all over the lid. I’ve been using Bronze a lot, it’s stunning alone all over the lid with a dark base. The rich brown with red tones matte Mulberry finishes the first row in true ABH style.

The second row starts with Dusty Rose - eyeshadow version of now cult liquid lipstick in the same name. The mauve matte is perfect as a transition, to cool down all your warm toned smokey! Fairy is similar in the formula to Glistening, this time in the form of light yellow gold, stunning alone but simply wow when applied wet. I use a lovely camel matte - Burnt Orange to deepen the crease, or to contour my eyes for everyday use. Sienna is a lighter version of Mulberry, again rich in red undertones. Rustic is my most used matte, perfect in the crease and to really carve out the eye. Cyprus Umber is yet another replica of Modern Renaissance and it’s that one brown shade we all love. Dark, rich, in between warm and neutral. The row ends with matte black Noir.

DO YOU NEED ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS SOFT GLAM IF YOU ALREADY OWN MODERN RENAISSANCE - check here for swatches? Probably not, but if you found the previous release to be a little too "out there" then the Soft Glam is just that, a softer version perhaps more suited to an everyday user. I mostly adore the eyeshadow formula and Soft Glam doesn’t disappoint. The shadows are rich in pigment, super buttery and almost creamy in texture. Light hand, as usual, is recommended and you truly need just a touch of product. All shades blend seemingly and without losing their richness. I’ve been using it every single day for weeks now & it seems I can’t stop!
