iDorottka loves: JANUARY 2016 BEAUTY FAVOURITES

Hello ladies :) Welcome to the first favourites of 2016. It's been a while, huh? Nah, not really :) It seems all I've been doing in the last month or so is write about favourites lol. It's a good thing I love so many things ;) Without a further ado let's dig in, shall we? January has been a month of a cleanse, I haven't been feeling well at all and bracing life has been pretty difficult. I am little better now, more calm and looking forward to a new month. I haven't been playing too much with my makeup, on a daily basis I was back to my favourites :)

Starting with my all time favourite palette - Makeup Revolution Death by Chocolate is just that, awesome every day palette. This is perfect for your every day makeup needs, you can even do your brows with it. Mattes are semi-mattes here so the whole look you create is less harsh and easier to do, if you're only just starting your journey. Shades are buttery and soft but with minimum fall out. For the mere £8.00 - It is a winner !!! :) Check it out here.

Last year has been a year of base discoveries for me and with the realisation my skin does not need full coverage came lighter, glowing bases. I have been looking for a cheaper alternative to my trusty Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue and I found it in the drugstore, for less than £6.00!!  I did good, haven't I? Collection Illuminating Touch Foundation is a pretty awesome, glowing foundation. It gives some coverage, but without the feeling you cake it up. It's light, highlighted at its best. I really like it in the shade Porcelain. It does go just a tad darker during a day on me if not powdered down, so I have been setting it down with Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit. If you're looking for a light, glowing base that doesn't break a bank - go and check this baby out :)

As to continue on the trend of looking for 'dupes' of my favourite luxury products. Let me introduce you to this slanted flat top brush from Makeup Revolution. It does come as part of a set Ultra Sculpt & Blend Collection and it's my alternative to Sigma F80 flat top. It isn't as dense but it blends my base liquid products beautifully - no streaks !! This is pretty unusual for drugstore brushes but this set is pretty awesome in general. There's only one brush I don't like there, even the sponge is decent. I have been using this brush on those days my trusty Sigma hasn't been washed in a week (lazy girl issues right here lol). Buy it here.

Lazy girl makeup cannot be completed without two staples - great mascara that lasts all day and a nude lipstick, that's barely there and yet, it gives you that better than your lips effect. In January these two for me were L'Oreal Volume Million Lashes So Couture. This mascara is pure gold. It volumes, lengthens a bit but what's awesome about it - it lasts all day, no smudging which is huge for me :) It's just a tenner too, so doesn't break a bank ;)Buy it here. January is a month of savings, so what's better than a free lipstick. My Lancome Pop Lipstick in Nude Pop mini was a gift with purchase of Glamour few months back and it has been in my makeup bag ever since. I reviewed it recently so if you'd like to know more, check out my post, but it's a great addition to my lazy day routine ;) Check it out here.

Back in December I started playing even more with my hair and by playing I mean dying it super light blonde just to put pastel purple and then crazy arse purple few days later. In order to get that frizz under control I rely on my trusty oils. You know I'm crazy about Coconut Oil in general but this month I have been adding some Argan Oil goodness to the mix. I was lucky to be send some goodies from Insta Natural and this 100% Pure Organic Argan Oil has been a life saver. It comes with a pump which is great for application and a glass bottle that I already know I will be re-using. Oil itself deeply conditions my hair laving them soft - and it's all thanks to the oil goodness. Buy it here. On top of oils I have been using this super cheap, yet effective Superdrug own Coconut Oil & Coconut Water Masque. It smells delicious, it doesn't weight down my hair and it gives them shine. Superb :) Go & check it out here.

I have been treating myself to my absolute favourite scent from Body Shop. Their HoneyMania Shower Gel has been a staple in my bathroom for years now and I keep going back. It smells delicious, leaves my skin soft and cleanses well. Not much else to say - great buy :)

For my face cleanse I have been going back to creamy textures as my poor dry and dehydrated skin is in serious need of a little moisture. This No7 Cleansing Balm has been designed for super dry skin and it is a god send. It doesn't irritate, it's pretty good at removing makeup, although I use it mainly as part two of my cleansing routine. It's very creamy in texture and leaves my skin moisturised which is always a plus in those scary winter months. Great buy on a budget ;)

Lastly my better than awesome eye cream. One luxury product that I just keep mentioning because it is that great !! Origins Plantscription Eye Cream is an anti-aging master. I can see the effect, my under eye area is smoother and more plump, my eye bags are reduced and dark circles as well. It does it all. Worth every penny :) if i could ever make you go & buy one product in your life - let it be this one. You will not be disappointed I promise :)

That's it for the lazy girl's guide to surviving post Christmas blues. Easy favourites with easy and great makeup and some skincare goodness to top it all off. How have you been this past month? Have you been suffering just by looking at your credit card statement and promising yourself 2016 will be the year you will save like I was? I have been strong and made NO PURCHASES so far and I'm proud, oh so proud of myself :) Tell me all about it and of your favourites that you think I should try in the comments below :) Don't forget to subscribe & stalk me everywhere - it means a world to me :)

New in: Tanya Burr Peachy Glow Cheek Palette review

Hello my beauties :) How's your week been so far? I'm recovering from the second offset of the most ridiculous cold. I lost my voice for few days but I'm finally on the mend. Autumn is really upon us, world outside looking all grey and depressing. So I come to you with a bit of sunshine, better yet it's healthy and won't break the bank.

I picked up this little trio recently browsing online on Superdrug site. I thought to myself, I really want to try one of Tanya Burr's new products. I didn't want any eyeshadow or the nail polish and I don't wear lipgloss or fake lashes, so I was most interested in her "contour palette". Why quotes you ask? It's a lovely cheek palette, contour it is not.

Packaging: I have to admit, I love it. There's an obvious hint at ABH or Zoeva, as this is made of a strengthened cardboard. I love rose gold and this looks super adorable. Great addition to any collection. It's also quite light so makes a good travelling companion, weight wise anyway. What I'm not so sure about is the actual size as you could certainly make it thinner and smaller, like Sleek trio perhaps? Inside you'll find a mirror, which is always a plus. The palette is super cute and aims perfectly at the type of market Tanya attracts. Inside you will find a bronzer, a blush and a highlighter surrounded by beautiful rose gold and pink accents :)

Formula: I've known better formulas. Nevertheless products are creamy to touch, only a little chalky when swatched. They aren't super pigmented, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. They're easily buildable and you get a less chance of giving yourself a horror when applied with heavy hand.

Bronzer, Beach Bronze is is a lovely warm yet still neutral tone. It's not too orange but also not cool toned. It's also satin finish with some glitter particles to it. This is where I have a problem with it. Tanya has been a beauty blogger for years and to advertise this as a possible contour palette is a little white lie. You can warm up your complexion in no time and it's lovely for that. Glitter is not really visible on the skin, giving it a satin like finish. I say it again, contour it is not.

Blush, Apricot Flush, is a lovely light coral pink shade. It's also a satin finish with a bit of tiny glitter mixed in. It gives your cheeks a nice flush of colour and its pigmentation is medium. I like the colour a lot, as it's perfect everyday blush in my opinion. It doesn't stay on all day and you will need to top it up during a day.

The little icing on a cake is the highlighter :) Champagne Shimmer is just a gorgeous, sparkly golden champagne shade. It's perfect for an everyday highlight as it just glides on effortlessly and it's a pleasure to blend. It's not as pigmented as my love, Mary-Lou, but as I mentioned somewhere above, that's not a bad thing. If you're only just starting with a highlighter, this one is perfect for you. It gives enough glow but not too much, unless of course you build it up.

I'll give this palette 3 out of 5*. It's losing 2 stars for being too big, packaging wise - it could be made thinner and for satin finish bronzer, especially given the time collection has launched. Whilst I don't have a problem with satin bronzer in summer, not so much for it in the A/W season.  It's most definitely a palette which will suit the pale skinned as I don't think these shades would suit or even show on darker skin tones. I still find it oh so cute, merely due to it's packaging, as I love Rose Gold :)

You can buy it here.

Let me know what you think ladies? I'm not overly excited, I have to say, but it's a good enough little palette and priced at £8.00 it's definitely worth looking at. Given the product itself,  I would recommend choosing either Sleek or Makeup Revolution to this. They offer a matte bronzer and maybe they're not as cool toned as a proper contour shades could be, they're most definitely a better choice that this one, in my opinion :)

Thank you for reading.

Tanya Burr's Lip Glosses under the radar. Are they worth the hype?

Hello lovelies. Today I'd like to talk to you about lip glosses. In general I'm not a fan. I have long hair that I'd like to keep loose and with the constant wind (Hello Britain lol) it's just not the most easy thing to wear on your lips. I also find most very drying. Ok I love matte lips too and matte colours tend to dry my lips too but at least I know what I'm paying for - perfect lips for several hours :)

I love Tanya Burr. She is such a sweetheart, super cute Youtube machine. Yet I've seen her beauty line when it launched and I never really wanted anything. I rarely wear falsies so that wasn't my cup of tea and I don't like lip glosses. Having seen Tanya apply her lip glosses on her videos I became bit more interested as they seemed to have a lovely colour payoff and as the name suggest they were so glossy ;) Finally on my weekly (LIAR - daily) trip to Superdrug I picked one up. I applied it later on and found the nude colour to be a little too nude for me if you know what I mean. However I found that lip gloss, although just a teensy bit sticky (which I don't mind at all) lasted for good two hours and after it was gone it left a nourishing layer on top of my lips for another 3 hours afterwards.

Having said all that colour by itself was really light so I started to experiment with adding a little on top of my nude lipsticks. That's how I found my perfect combo: MAC's Kinda Sexy and Tanya Burr's Chic :) If I want a nude lip these days that's what I will go for :)

I wanted more :) This time I wanted to pick up a more "me" colour and after seeing swatches everywhere I've chosen Aphrodite. What a happy surprise it was, that I found it on Fragrance Direct for £1.99 :) In the basket it went, alongside a little MAC extra, but that's the story for another time.

The moment I opened the package I knew that Aphrodite may quickly become my favourite lip gloss ever. It's has a raspberry tone to it and it's just lovely pinky, red and glossy at the same time. What's not too love. Pigmentation as for a lip gloss is pretty great and again it lasts well on my lips. Even once the colour goes off it leaves a comfortable layer on top of your lips and you don't feel like you need to use a lip treatment afterwards.

I've done some scary close up swatches for you as well as standard photos and I will leave you to judge if you like them or not :)

I'm a new convert to lip glosses thanks to Tanya Burr collection :) Will I be getting more? Probably not as these two will last me forever and as I said before, I don't wear lip gloss that often. Aphrodite will end up in my work makeup bag as a quick during a day fix, that's for sure :)

You can get them at Superdrug for £6.99 here or specific shades at discounted price of £1.99 at Fragrance Direct here. Also check out Tanya's YT channel if you don't already stalk her online ;)

Hope you enjoyed my ramblings today and I hope to see you next time :) Don't forget to subscribe :)
