Huda Beauty Rose Gold Remastered

Ah, Huda Kattan, the queen of makeup and internet drama made another dramatic entry to her collection by re-releasing her cult first palette. Huda Beauty Rose Gold Remastered* is a thing of beauty, with stunning shades, updated formula and new packaging. But is it worth spending your hard earned money on? This blogger investigates.

ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS MODERN RENAISSANCE REVIEW WITH SWATCHES

Any palette launch from Anastasia Beverly Hills gathers a lot oh hype months before it hits the market. Having had a very mixed feelings about the previous launch of Anastasia Beverly Hills Self Made Palette (REVIEW HERE) I'll set the tone of today, saying it as it is. I love this palette. I have developed quite a critique mind when it comes to makeup, so I tend to find both positives and negatives of any product I review. I'm super pleased with Modern Renaissance. Why? Let me tell you now. 

The packaging. 

I'm not the one to usually love anything that feels like velvet, however I must admit to be a teensy bit in love with it. It's a hardened carboard covered with velvet like material with Anastasia Beverly Hills logo in rose gold & name of the palette in white embellished on the front. It gives it both luxurious and modern feel. 

Inside you'll find medium sized clear mirror. It's not as luxurious as the mirror in Charlotte Tilbury The Dolce Vita quad I recently reviewed, but it's clear and great size for applying makeup on the go. 

The packaging hosts 14 shadows which are quite small, if I have to be honest. They're weight only 0.7g each. 

You'll also get the double ended brush, which I personally don't like. I rarely think the brushes added to any palettes, so it's not a huge minus in my eyes. I use my own brushes, although I can see it being a problem to someone, who's maybe not as obsessed addict as me ;) 

There's also rose gold ABH logo just below the mirror and all the shade names are written in rose gold below the shadows themselves. 

The formula.

I found most shadows super buttery with only two mattes swatching a little too much of product and looking chalky when swatched. It does not take away from the amazing pigmentation of both, so it's really not even worth mentioning. All the shadows are incredibly soft and with that, there's a certain amount of product fallout when using the brush, however this doesn't transfer in to a product fallout when actually using the shadows. The only shade I experienced a tiny amount of fallout was Cyprus Umber (the darkest chocolate brown matte).

Shades. 

Tempera - light beige with peachy tones, satin finish & great pigmentation. 

Golden Ochre - medium dirty yellow with olive tones, semi matte finish & great pigmentation. 

Vermeer - light peach with frosted shimmer finish highlight shade & super pigmented. 

Buon Fresco - muted light to medium purple mauve, matte finish & nicely pigmented. 

Antique Bronze - medium to dark brown with warm tones and a shimmery finish. Great pigmentation. 

Love Letter - dark berry with pink tones, slightly muted of a matte finish & great pigmentation. 

Cyprus Amber - dark brown with warm tones, matte finish & great pigmentation. 

Raw Sienna - light to medium brown with warm golden orange tones, matte finish and great pigmentation.

Burnt Orange - medium orange brown with warm tones and matte finish, great pigmentation. 

Primavera - second highlight shade, light to medium peachy gold with frosted finish, almost metallic, great pigmentation. 

Red Ochre - muted burnt red brown with warm tones and matte finish, great pigmentation. 

Venetian Red - medium to dark red with warm tones and satin finish, great pigmentation.

Warm Taupe - medium taupe brown with warm tones and matte finish, great pigmentation. 

Realgar - medium to dark burnt orange brown with warm tones and matte finish, great pigmentation. 

The Overview. 

Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance is a great blend of neutral colours with some reds and pinks. It's mostly matte with some Darin's and gorgeous highlight shades added in for good measure. It's a very well thought palette. All the shades are of warm tones and work together nicely. These shades will bring out any eye colour, however those with blue and grey eyes should experience it the most. 

It's a truly unbelievable experience to work with this palette, as all the shades are just so super pigmented and they transfer beautifully to the skin. They lasted 8 hours on my eyes without creasing on no primer! When applied over MAC Painterly they lasted full 16 hours without creasing. 

I took my time when testing this palette and I honestly can't fault it. Yes you may experience some sustained of the shadows in the pan but that doesn't transfer to massive product fallout on the eyes. And I wonder how long will the packaging last to be this gorgeous given it's pastel purple colour and velvet material, so I decided to store it in the original carboard box to be safe ;) 

The main con here would be the price as it's way more expensive to get here in UK than in US. You'll have to pay a hefty £41 for this palette. Is it worth it? In my opinion it is worth every penny! There are rarely any hyped up products that are truly incredible and Anstasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance is the one!

CULT OR NOT: THE BALM NUDE'TUDE, IS IT WORTH THE HYPE?

Hello Monday :) I hope you had an amazing weekend ! I come to you today with an eyeshadow palette review as I know you like these posts. In my first ever Cohorted box I received theBalm Nude'tude palette which I have been after for what seems like a very long time. Is it truly worth the hype? Let's see shall we?

Packaging gets a huge plus from me. It's hardened cardboard which I prefer as it's light, durable and travel friendly. It also hosts a nice mirror inside which is always a welcomed travel friendly addition. The design shows a picture of a perfect 'blogger friendly' bedroom and inside (as it's the 'naughty version') eyeshadows cover naked ladies body parts ;) I really adore theBalm vintage pin up packaging as it's fun and girly and in my opinion empowers women. Palette holds 12 shadows, 8 shimmers and 4 mattes as well as double ended brush, which I don't use as it's not the best quality. It's not terrible but I have plenty of better brushes to work with.

Stand-offish- warm medium bronze with a lot of metallic shimmer, great pigmentation, beautiful shade

Selfish- metallic finish taupe, great pigmentation. Great shade for taupe (mushroom like) lovers.

Sophisticated- warm dark brown with bronze shimmer, great pigmentation

Sultry- warm medium brown with satin semi-matte finish, lovely transition shade (only one in the palette which is a shame)

Seductive- medium to dark bronze with metallic gold shimmer, great pigmentation

Sexy- matte dark plum/burgundy, beautiful shade, superb pigmentation - my absolute favourite in the palette 

Silly- dark brown with red undertones and copper shimmer, good pigmentation but a lot of fallout

Serious- matte black, one of the blackest black I've seen, great shade

Sleek- very dark brown, matte finish, great pigmentation

Overview:

I really enjoy using this palette. Shades are super blendable, mattes work beautifully, even with a little fallout. I'm totally in love with Sultry & Sexy from mattes offerings and Sassy & Stand-offish from shimmers, but if I have to be honest I've seen better shimmers with less fallout with shades from Makeup Revolution. Mattes, however are brilliant to work with. I miss a white or beige shade, which makes this palette not complete in my opinion, as there's no shade to set your primer and under brow with. You will need a separate shade to complete a look. This palette is called brilliant for daytime looks, however with only mattes being on a darker side, I find it's a better palette for more evening/sophisticated looks, but that's only my personal opinion. Is it worth it's price? Well, quality is definitely similar to Naked palettes which are similar in price point, so I understand the hype around it. However it is most definitely the palette you can live without as it's not complete without a matte beige. For non palette enthusiasts and looking for one and only palette - this is definitely one which you can pass on. For the rest of us, the eyeshadows lovers - you will most definitely find shades here you will fall in love with.

It seems Makeup Revolution Week has just finished but today I finally get to share with you my review of Fortune Favours The Brave palette by Jane from British Beauty Blogger. I swatched it on MUR event recently and I had to have it. It definitely doesn't disappoint :)

Package arrived pretty early considering the palette was much hyped about by all of us and I purchased it on the day of early release. It costs £10.00 and it's available on MUR website and it should be launching in Superdrug this week :)

Packaging gets a huge well done from me. Firstly, it's not shiny black and although it's also made of plastic, it feels more well done. It is not luxury packaging but for the price it comes very close. Definitely closer than any other MUR palette ever came. I love the logo and the matte gold plastic. It's super pretty. Definitely an eye candy for my vanity :) Inside you will find a very large mirror and small double ended brush. It's really tiny with one end being a synthetic flat brush and other a small blending brush. I really like the size of the blending brush but as usual, this one is quite stiff and too scratchy for my liking. Bristles are definitely not quality enough to be considered for using it everyday. I find that flat side doesn't pick up product very well either. Please don't be discouraged, I reject most of the brushes that come with palettes even the more luxury ones like Urban Decay or Anastasia Beverly Hills. I personally wouldn't include the brush at all.

30 shades are of various finishes. You'll find plenty mattes of semi matte to matte finish, satins, shimmers and baked. Oh the baked shades - some of them are super pretty :) Most shades are beautifully pigmented with one or two slacking in the pigmentation department. It's a very versatile palette, having both neutrals and colours in. I'm a little surprised it has launched for spring, as I will definitely consider using it more in autumn as colour shades have that autumn dirty look to them. Nevertheless you are getting 30 incredible shades ranging from cool through neutral to warm tones. There's plenty here for everyone :)

Let's have a look at individual shades. I apologise in advance - this may take a while, so if you haven't already, make yourself a cup of tea and relax :) Done? Ok then, let's dig in :) * all shades have an great pigmentation unless stated otherwise*

Glimmer - champagne shade with shimmer finish, great for highlighting

Buffer - warm tone matte beige, great as a base crease shade for transitioning 

Peachy - warm peach satin finish, lacks in pigmentation and needs to be applied few times to get the colour intensity, shade wise - just beautiful as an all over shade or mid lid transition from dark outer corner.

Hope - light brown satin finish, neutral tone, gorgeous all over the lid colour.

Fortune - vintage gold shimmer finish , neutral tone, another great all over the lid shade.

Skylight - dirty blue with gold shimmer running through, baked finish, lovely shade for adding a hint of colour

Transformer - dark blue with green undertone matte finish, great for outer corners or all over the lid.

Smoothie - dark navy/grey matte with blue micro -glitter running through, lacks pigmentation.

Ice Cloud - icy white shimmer finish, beautiful for highlighting 

Golden Coins - medium brown gold shimmer, baked finish - beautiful all over the lid shade

Cashmere - medium taupe satin finish - great all over the lid or for transition from dark outer corner.

Tip Top - muddy yellow toned taupe, matte finish, lacks in pigmentation a bit but still ok as a transition shade.

Yes Please - vintage gold with green undertone, super pigmented all over the lid.

Green Machine - muddy green with gold shimmer, great all over the lid shade

Smoothie - dark green matte finish, lacks a bit in pigmentation, will need several coats to really work

Caffeine Fix - chocolate brown matte finish with neutral to cool tones, greta for darkening up the crease and outer corners.

Latte - light brown, neutral to warm tones, matte finish - great transition shade  

Pink Diamond - light to medium pink shimmer, a little crumbly for my liking

Creme - light yellow beige shade, matte finish, great for setting primer.

Drama Queen - dark brown with purple undertones, cool toned matte finish - great outer corner shade

Lonely Planet - dark purple black matte with berry purple micro glitter running through. This one looks beautiful in the pan but it's harder to transfer to lid as opaque as its swatch.

Blacqua - true black matte finish - now that's a great black shade, pigmented and easily transferable, may experience a bit of fallout 

Soft - peachy light beige, matte finish, great for setting up your primer

New World- icy white with gold shimmer running through, baked finish - just gorgeous for inner corners.

Favour - peachy rose gold shimmer, beautiful all over the lid shade

Sunset Hour - medium brown gold shimmer, great all over the lid

Super Gold -  dark gold shimmer, great all over the lid

Winning - muted dark taupe purple, matte finish, lovely for darkening up the crease and outer corners

Brave - dark purple black with micro glitter

The Revolution - matte purple taupe with tons of berry purple micro glitter, the matte shade lacks in pigment just a bit.

I hope you survived the overview of individual shades and chosen your favourites already. For me I love the shimmers, all except of Pink Diamond really. From satins the clear winner for me is Peachy, despite the fact it seriously lacks in pigmentation - it is the perfect peach shade !! I love all baked shades but few caught my eye the most. Lonely Planet looks amazing and cosmic in the pan, and New World is my favourite shade, simply gorgeous. Mattes are lacking the wow factor, but light beiges are better pigmented than in other palettes so hats off to MUR and Jane. Blacqua is a great black matte that every palette truly needs. I also like Winning and Drama Queen. 

There are unlimited choices here for you to create any look. Shimmers are as per usual gorgeous and transfer to lid incredibly, there are few good mattes to complete the look and baked shades may steal your heart as they've stolen mine. All you need is a little imagination and Fortune Favours The Brave may quickly become a staple on your vanity. Shadows are very lasting and they survived my oily lid and hooded eye for 6 hours without the base and 12 hours applied over MAC Painterly so you are getting quality here, no questions. The only little issue I have is the release date as this palette screams autumn/winter with the colour shades muted, mostly cool undertones.

Happy hump day ladies & gents <3 Today I'd like to share with you the eyeshadow palette must have. 32 matte shades in one fairly sized palette. One I think any enthusiast or professional MUA should have in their kit. Why? Because it's a crease shade heaven. Let me present you Makeup Revolution Flawless Matte :)

Today's going to be a little different, I will not be reviewing each shade - I'll leave the swatches to talk for themselves (and it scares me to even try to name them all lol). Packaging wise, you will find them locked in a decent size plastic palette. This isn't matte plastic (why oh why !!) but I was surprised at how reasonably 'small' this palette is. Makes it a perfect addition to your kit, be that for fun or professional use. As with any "Ultra" palettes from MUR, inside you'll find large mirror, which is super convenient for travel. 

What I really love about it? Mattes. Every self respected enthusiast knows how hard it is to get good crease shades. Yes you will get one or two decent ones in normal eyeshadow palettes but there's never a room to play too much. Here you are getting 32. They are well pigmented and of different tones, which makes it a true crease shade heaven. The formula is mainly semi matte, with two shades more chalky but the rest? Super soft, easy to blend and not disappearing while you at it. I must admit to using it daily. Think daytime makeup, think evening extravaganza - you have it all here. Any shade can be used on it's own or to blend others out. I still can't quite comprehend how is it priced at only £8??? 
Flawless Matte is also super versatile. There are so many brow shades in there to suit any skin tone. Column 3 shade Fawn is the one I use to fill on my brows.

I really can't fault this palette. If there's one palette you need to try - be it Flawless Matte :)  Available here.
