STRIPPED BACK MORNING ROUTINE FOR DEHYDRATED SKIN + WIN BIG WITH CULT BEAUTY!

Updated skincare routine to combat redness

Winter hasn’t been kind to my skin. Redness caused by dehydration and increased sensitivity has been a nightmare so I decided to take a step back, re-assess my skincare & make few changes to soothe my often angered skin. Today I've teamed up with Cult Beauty (somebody pinch me please!)  #ThisIsSkin campaign. It’s a #SkincareMonth in their London office & together we hope to bring awareness of real skin problems and how we can fix them by simply making few changes in our daily routines. I slowly introduced the products into my routine and so far, I’m super pleased with the results. If you’d like to know more, there are few amazing products I’d like to introduce you to! There’s also a competition you should know about, so please stay with me!

Intro to my skin.

It’s important to share with you what issues I experience with my skin on a daily. It should also help you figure out if they’re similar to your own troubles! I’m 32 years old and closer to 33 than I’d like to admit (14th August, all best wishes appreciated lol) with mostly dry skin in the colder months and combination in summer. It’s a general rule of thumb as my skin changes almost daily and it’s very dependant on my menstrual cycle. Due to chronic pain and other health problems, I’m on a lot of medication which tends to have a detrimental effect and make me dehydrated constantly. I drink a lot of water & hydrate with a shit ton of hyaluronic acid but the dehydration is my main skin concern pretty much always. I can get sensitive and I’m prone to redness as an effect of it all. I also sporadically suffer from hormonal breakouts thanks to the joys of hormonal imbalance and inability to tolerate any type of hormonal therapy. I started to notice few lines years ago now, but with the few years of blogging came some knowledge about the dehydration lines, so now I just opt for the right skincare and that mostly fixes it. However lately I’ve noticed lines under my eyes become more prominent and fine lines started to form around my mouth (damn smiling!) and forehead. So here you go: dehydration and its side effects i.e. redness, sensitivity and dullness; first signs of ageing and often some form of hormonal adult acne (around the chin area mainly) are the 3 skin problems I identified for this campaign, so let’s talk about the products I’m using trying to battle it!

Indie Lee Rosehip Cleanser

The first step I’m taking to try and battle increased sensitivity and terrible redness is to strip back my routine. I wanted to ensure I cleanse but decided to leave deep cleansing for evenings only and use products that strengthen my skin and also protect it from pollution and free radicals! Enter delicate cleansing and here I've gone for Indie Lee Rosehip Cleanser*. Most will recognise the brand for their other cleansers and toners, but I specifically wanted to try the Rosehip Cleanser as I know how much my skin enjoys Rosehip Oil or its extracts. It’s such a delicate almost watery gel formula that doesn’t smell like much but makes cleansing in a morning a quick and gentle experience. I first wet my skin and then massage it with 1-2 pumps of product using soft and gentle movements. I then take a  face towel dampened with cold water to remove the product and also allow my skin to wake up.

Allies of Skin Molecular Saviour Mist

I want my skin to always be hydrated so I follow the cleansing ritual with a few spritzes of Allies of Skin Molecular Saviour Mist*. The water formula enriched with anti-evaporation molecules allows the hydration to last a lot longer than your usual mist. It’s not the finest and I’d spray it further away from my face than the Omorovicza mist, but I forgive it as it works so well. This little extra step ensures my skin stays hydrated is well prepped for the rest of the routine.

Verso Hydration Serum with Niacinamide

I adore when the time comes for the serum, please tell me I’m not the only one? I’ve fallen in love with Verso Hydrating Serum with Niacinamide* during testing (POST) so I kept it as it’s so brilliant at keeping my skin hydrated. Not only that, but the Niacinamide protects it from environmental factors and irons out those dehydration lines quickly. I take a little product in my hands and apply it by pressing it into the skin. I find this method is gentler on my skin, so again keeping that redness at bay

Emma Hardie Age Support Eye Cream

The eye cream is a funny product as we truly won’t know if it works until we’re older and hopefully not as wrinkly as others! I find that creamier & more buttery formulas are preferable for my drier than Sahara under eyes. I’ve recently taken out this Emma Hardie Age Support Eye Cream out of my bottomless skincare drawers & promptly fallen in love with it. It’s creamy and under eyes just love that. I apply it with my ring fingers starting from the temple and gently patting it inwards. This method of application is recommended for those pesky under eye lines, as you apply the product in a different direction that lines usually form. I love how moisturised the area is plus it sinks in quickly allowing me to apply makeup only a few minutes after.

Zelens 3t Complex Essential Anti-Ageing Cream

I thought long & hard which moisturiser to take out for a spin and remembered that I have a deluxe sample of Zelens 3t Complex Essential Anti-Ageing Cream. This miracle worker has been duped one of the best moisturisers on the market and I’ve appreciated the formula from the first use. It’s creamy yet sinks in quickly. It gives my skin all the moisture it needs and provides a healthy barrier before makeup. It contains Ursolic Acid that has a long list of properties such as anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial and anti-oxidant to name a few and before I run out of ‘anti’ words. I know for sure it must be anti-Trump too lol! The list of amazing ingredients goes on and on and you can see it working within days really. I kinda hate that I love it, as the price point pains me a little a lot!

Omorovicza Ultramoor Mud Mask

Thankfully I work (usually) Monday to Friday which allows me some 'me time' in terms of treating my skin to a little morning treat on the weekend. I’ve only used Omorovicza Ultramoor Mud Mask* a few times but OMG the results are quite something. Not only it dries out, helping to deeply cleanse my skin but also firms like no other and doesn’t instigate any further redness! You should leave it on for only 5-10 minutes so it’s a perfect morning treat! My skin feels nourished and ultra soft with lines gone after few minutes with it on! A little goes a long way too which makes me happy as I’ll be able to enjoy it for much longer than I originally suspected.
