THE MAKEUP EDIT #3

January’s been a busy month. I worked a lot, I shopped a lot and out of the mixture of two, the makeup edit is baaaack! I’m talking new ins, absolute hits and rediscoveries which allowed me to look good despite the complete lack of sleep or a day off!

No sleep routine

When you end up working 14 hours a day and try to keep up with your blogging and socials on top of that, full coverage base is very much needed. I finally got my hands on the coveted Huda Beauty #FauxFilter Foundation (£32 for 35ml) and I’m in love.  Let's take a moment to appreciate the packaging which is made of matte plastic, looks luxurious but also travel-friendly. I chose the shade Milkshake 100B and it was a perfect match. Less than a pump of the product gives me the most flawless finish one could ever need! It’s matte but that only allows me to layer up the highlighter to make me glow from here to the moon! To keep it looking flawless and poreless all day, I've been using another new fave. I apply a thin layer of touchinSOL No Poreblem Primer (£15 for 30ml) all over the face and lightly pat the product in to allow it to smooth out the surface before the foundation. Together they allowed me to look my best despite less than 6 hours of sleep at night.

What bags?

I didn't suffer from bad bags as much thankfully. My change towards a healthy diet and increased water intake have worked well for my skin. Having said that, the lack of sleep has shown a bit. The brand new Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Concealer in C1 is quite amazing! No wonder it's constantly out of stock (you can sign up for stock reminders here). It offers nearly full coverage yet the formula is light enough not to cake up under the eyes. In fact, it covers everything well and keeps the under eyes looking great all day long. It doesn’t set or crumble and if set with powder lasts all day! C1 is slightly darker than my fave from Tarte but is still light enough for me to use. I hope to see C0.5 maybe on the offer?

Glow glow glow

I wanted a rose gold highlighter forever. Sadly most shades are quite dark and show on my very fair skin. I took a plunge recently and ordered Jouer Rose Gold Collection Powder Highlighter. It’s light yet gives the most glorious pink gold shine - no glitter in sight! I adore it on top of my cheekbones, to accentuate Cupid’s Bow, the tip and bridge of the nose and to add a little glow to the inner corners of my eyes. I love applying it with a fan brush and it gives the most glorious glow! Just look at that swatch - LOVE!

5-minute smokey eye

If I’m in the rush but don’t want to sacrifice my favourite eye look, I always reach for Charlotte Tilbury The Dolce Vita palette. Despite the lack of matte shadows, it somehow works on my hooded eyes! I use the dark copper shade all over the lid and above the crease and it simply blends itself. I then pack on some more colour to really make my eyes pop and add the darkest shade in the outer corners to give the smokey eye a little more definition. I always apply a little of the glitter shade all over the lid and the lightest shade in the inner corners for the more awake look. All this in 5 minutes and that's counting mascara application too!

Girl boss red lip

I don’t know about you but I always go for a statement lip. It makes me feel made up and confident. The new addition to the family is Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips in Corina’s Love. Creamy yet light, it stays put for a good 4 hours and is easy to reapply throughout the day. I love the true red shade, it makes my lips appear fuller and softer somehow. It’s that one lipstick I see myself using all the time!

What makeup have you been treating yourself to lately? I have shopped more than it's humanly possible but always looking for an inspiration. The red season is upon us and I'd like to treat myself to a new orange-red. Any recommendations?
