NEW AND NOTEWORTHY BEAUTY

New and noteworthy beauty

In my new series, I’ll be talking about brand new beauty products. They may be releases or products that’s just landed on my vanity. A cross between first impressions and a full review, a post in between if you will. Today we’re talking Glossier, Fenty Beauty, Marc Jacobs and Clarins! Are you ready?

Clarins Blue Orchid Treatment Oil | £33.00 for 30ml

The biggest discovery of the recent weeks, this tiny facial oil has dominated my routine. I’ve been dealing with some massive and painful spots on my chin and a cheek and I was distraught as nothing seemed to help. In fact, my usual faves only angered the area. Then I stumbled on Youtube and one of my faves Hello October mentioned Clarins Blue Orchid Treatment Oil and how it helped get her spots under control. I remembered I had a sample and the rest (and a couple of massive volcanos) is history! To use, I warm up 4 drops in my hands and pat onto my face and neck. The scent is quite strong but the results incredible so I take it. With the essential oils of Rosewood and Patchouli as well as Blue Orchid extract and Hazelnut Oil base it revitalizes, tones, moisturises and prevents signs of ageing. I’ve been using it every day as the last step in my skincare and it kept my problematic areas new spot free! This tiny sample should last me few more weeks as little goes a long way, but I’ll be buying full-size for sure!

Clarins Orchid Blue Treatment Oil

Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser | £15.00 for 177ml

Unlike the Clarins Oil, Glossier and I didn’t start as friends. In fact, first time I’ve used it I hated it! Ok, hate’s a strong word, but bear with me as I try and explain. The formula is lovely, milky gel melts away makeup (not waterproof mascara, just saying!) and gets rid of all the nasties. However, if washed away with water only, it stripped my skin from all the moisture. So I had to get creative. Now I use it together with my Magnitone Bare Faced Brush* or remove it with Magnitone WipeOut* cleansing cloth and both ways it works great. 1/4th of the water has been replaced by rosewater, which tones and disparages dehydration. Is it my favourite cleanser formula? No. However, I appreciate how gentle it is, how amazing it cleanses and that my skin feels prepped for skincare afterwards. Plus the scent is light and delicate and just yum! I use two pumps of the product to cleanse both my face and neck, so a little really goes a long way here!

Marc Jacobs Le Marc Lip Crème in Boy Gorgeous* | £25.00 each for full size

My first Marc Jacobs lippy and I’m sold. The creamy formula goes on beautiful and makes my lips look incredible. No dryness or lines are intensified, this is every girl’s dream formula! I love a designer lipstick, but a lot of times I find myself regretting the purchase. I expect a lot from a £25 lipstick, simply because it’s a lot of money to spend on a lip product! Le Marc Lip Crème doesn’t disappoint. It’s matte but not flat, softly satin in my opinion. It stays put for 5 + hours given you don’t eat a lot. It’s super easy to re-apply throughout the day and looks as good as when it’s done in the morning. I have a deluxe sample of Boy Gorgeous, kindly gifted to me by John Lewis and it’s the most stunning berry with purple tones. What’s extraordinary is the pigment as one swipe truly gives you an opaque finish, as advertised. I’ll be buying more shades that’s for sure!

Fenty Beauty Pro-Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation | £26.00 for 30ml

Whoever called this soft matte should re-think their career choices. Seriously! This is a full matte foundation. It’s also a b**ch to apply. I’ve done the most foolish thing when it arrived and decided to test it for the very first time during an Instagram Live LOL! I tried to avoid reviews to make sure I give it a fair chance especially hearing mixed opinions! My first time with it was dreadful because I applied it over quite the mattifying Revlon YouthFX primer. It went on patchy and was drying so quickly I couldn’t blend it for the life of me. Thankfully a good blogger that I am, I gave it another few goes, because now I freaking love it. I found a way!!!! I add a drop and a half of The Hero Project Glow Drops to two pumps of a foundation and the results are simply incredible! I also use a hydrating and glowing primer underneath and the finish is soft matte with only a subtle glow from within, barely noticeable. The foundation stays on for 10+ hours despite the oil add-on and I really can’t fault it. The finish is almost skin-like, but better.   Not the easiest to work with and you’ll definitely need to find your own way, but the finished result and lasting power are totally worth all the trouble! Oh, and did I mention this foundation is the first one in history that’s actually half a shade too light on me? I know!!!

Fenty Foundation, Glossier Stretch Concealer & Marc Jacobs Le Marc Lipstick

Glossier Stretch Concealer | £15.00 for 5ml

As with Fenty foundation, this wasn’t a love from the first use. It was the second use that made me fall! Best applied with a synthetic concealer brush and blended in with the beauty blender. I love the creamy & moisturising formula. If you suffer from dryness around eyes or have some lines in that area, I think you’ll appreciate how soft and gentle the formula goes on. Straight away, the area is brightened and once set, gives almost a soft focus finish. I have the lightest shade and whilst I can certainly make it work, I’d love it in a tone lighter shade. I’ve been using it every day, other than with Fenty foundation. Sadly the shade is too dark. Any other foundation, I can make it work, Fenty being slightly too light for me, I just can’t make it work. Formula-wise, it works with ever foundation I tried it with, from Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue and Inglot Beautifier to Smashbox Studio Skin and Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear. It’s a great choice for mature skin too. I tried it on my mom and I loved the results. If applied correctly, it doesn’t set in wrinkles. In fact, the moisturising factors, make the wrinkled areas appear brighter and younger. Great all-rounder!

  1. From what I've heard, I don't think the stretch concealer will give me enough coverage. However, I love Clarins Blue Orchid oil! I really must get another bottle! xx

  3. I love Marc Jacobs lipsticks but I don't have that shade. That Clarins oil has been sitting in my list to buy for the longest time but I have so many oils to go through that I never really got to it.

  4. Eeep now you've scared me from trying the Fenty foundation lol. I heard it wasn't very kind on dry skin and tbh, I'm too lazy to spend extra time and energy to make my foundation work. Specially one with a higher pricetag! Guess I'll just have to wait until fenty releases a glowy foundation!
