Cocktails at Be At One, Birmingham

I’ve started my Birmingham 101 series to showcase all the good our beautiful city has to offer. Birmingham gets a bad rep, but there are so many great places to shop, eat and drink, it’s a true shame, it doesn’t get enough credit. I was invited to try a newly launched cocktail menu in Be At One venue and I was blown away (also in quite the delicate state the next morning!). Gorgeous setting plays nicely to a girls night out, a stop by after a day of shopping in Grand Central and Bullring and close enough to walk for after work drinks in the city centre.

Be At One is located outside of Grand Central (tram entrance). Perfect spot if you don’t know Birmingham very well, as it’s so close to the main train station. Upon arrival, we noticed a great security level (perfect for girls night outs when you want to have fun but feel safe at the same time). An Uber pick up is few metres away too. Inside, you’ll notice dimmed lighting, full of colour and shade, polished bar and plenty of sitting area. Music plays at a level that’s pleasant and allows for a conversation. What brings it all together is a superb bar staff. They look like they’re having fun, joke around and showcase the cocktail making skills at the same time as keeping the crowd queueing satisfied. There are two rooms, we were placed in a back one which was closed for press only.

We were treated to bottomless cocktails and tried all the new drinks from the menu. Delicious Blue Steel was a firm favourite with everyone. Served in a margarita glass and mixed with gin, prosecco, blue curaçao, peach, egg white and lemon. Fruity and sweet is my favourite and this one hits all the boxes! If you like your bourbon, Banofee Old Fashioned is sweet yet packs a punch. Not for a weak head for sure! Kiss From The Rose combines sweet and fresh notes with gin, strawberry, cucumber, Rose wine, pomegranate and elderflower tonic. I feel this will work for anyone! There’s so much more to choose from and Be At One knows well how hard it is to sometimes choose a cocktail. They created a cocktail version of Tinder which is available through their app, where you choose your poison by swiping left and right through some options and app picks a cocktail that’s most suited to your choosing. It was really fun trying it out!

Let’s talk about the app for a bit then. I mentioned the cocktail choosing Tinder, but there’s another valuable option in the app. It’s called the Happy Hour and it’s a brilliant way to start the night. Basically, you arrive at the venue and click on happy hour. For an hour you’ll get discounts on cocktails and drinks! Whilst happy hour isn’t anything new, the ability to choose it at any given time of the day/night makes it so unusual and great value! Imagine having cheaper drinks whenever! If that doesn’t make you download it instantly I don’t know what would!

In summary, I thoroughly enjoyed myself on a Tuesday night in Be At One bar! I came with a couple of my girlfriends and we left laughing and tipsy after a fabulous night at Be At One Birmingham. Thank you for having me & I’ll surely be back sometime soon!
