FESTIVAL VIBES - MERMAID/BRONZE SMOKEY WITH A TOUCH OF YELLOW - TALK THROUGH TUTORIAL FOR HOODED EYES

I honestly don't remember last time I posted a makeup look. I've been working a lot and whilst I wear makeup every day, then the precious time I have off, I spend makeup free, giving my skin a well-deserved break. Last bank holiday Monday inspiration hit and I was actually going out of the house so I thought a smokey eye would do a trick. It quickly turned into full on glam bronzed smokey with some mermaid vibes and a yellow liner and painted yellow selfies, as you do going out for coffee and some retail therapy. Nevertheless, I was super happy with the look and took few photos, so if you'd like to know how to achieve this look, let me tell you now.

Eyes - products

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion
Jeffree Star Beauty Killer - shades: China White, Courtney
Jeffree Star Androgyny - shades: Safe Word, Charm, Dominatrix, Frosting
Topshop Chameleon Eyeshadow in U-turn
Nyx Vivid Brights Liquid Liner in Halo
L'Oreal Mega Volume Miss Baby Roll in Black
Morphe Falsies

Eyes - playtime:

I started by priming the lid and set it with China White. A mixture of Safe Word and Courtney landed in the crease and above it as a transition shade. I applied Charm on the outer corner blending it inward and leaving only inner corners free of it. I have added the shade in the outer corners and blended inward few times to create a gradient effect. Dominatrix landed in the outer corner, again blending it inward but not as far as the Charm. I spritzed the flat synthetic brush with MAC Fix+and applied Topshop Chameleon shadow to the inner corners and blending it toward mid lid. I added a little Charm to the crease and then some Dominatrix to the outer corner again, blending it towards the crease and defining outer corners. The mermaid-like eyeshadow wasn't enough so I added a Nyx Halo - yellow matte liner on the upper lashline and finished with couple coats of the mascara. On the bottom lashline I applied Dominatrix close to the lashline and blended it out with a little Charm, then Safe Word. I added Frosting to the very inner corners to finish up the eyes. I applied falsies and painted the ends with NYX Halo, just because ;)

Base - products:

Laura Mercier Radiance Primer
Catrice HD Liquid Coverage Foundation in 010
LA Girl HD Long Wear Illuminating Liquid Foundation White Lightener
Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer in Fair
RCMA No-Color Powder

Base - playtime:

I applied the moisturising and radiant primer and left if for few minutes to sink in. I mixed a pump and a half a pump of Catrice Foundation and lightened it with half a pump of LA Girl White Mixer. I applied most of the foundation with my fingers and blended in with Tarte Beauty Sponge. I then applied the rest to my cheekbones, nose and chin, which are areas I needed more coverage on. Again blended it with Tarte Sponge (which is not a Beauty Blender but not bad at all!). I applied the Tarte Concealer to the under eyes (V sign), on the nose, a little bit on the forehead and chin to conceal and highlight. I blended with the sponge. I set my under eyes, brows and t-zone with RCMA powder and sponge. I don't use brushes for powder anymore and boy, has it been working for me! I let the foundation sit for a 2-3 minutes before applying the finishing touches.

Brows - products:

NYE Brow Liner in Ash Brown (unavailable)
ModelCo More Brows in Light/Medium
Soap & Glory Archery in Love is Blonde

Brows playtime:

My favourite new way to achieve full and natural brows is to start with brow fibre mascara brushing outward. Then apply a darker shade pencil to the bottom of the brow and the arch, brush off the excess and fill in the inner part of the brows with lighter shade pencil. It just works for me lately!

Cheeky cheekbones - products:

Benefit Cheek Parade - shades: Hoola Lite, Hoola, Galifornia, Rockateur
Makeup Revolution Skin Kiss - shades: Ice Kiss, Peach Kiss
Jeffree Star Androgyny - shade: Frosting

Cheeky cheekbones - playtime:

After letting the foundation set, I applied Hoola Lite to bronze up my complexion and to slightly contour with. I added depth to the contour with Hoola. I added a layer or two of Galifornia to the apples of my cheeks and Rockateur over bronzer. I added three - yes three highlighters. I first started at the very top of my cheekbones with Ice Peach, then added a touch (haha!) if Frosting and blended it all out with Ice Kiss. I added Ice Kiss to the top of my nose, cupids bow and faintly over my T-zone.

Pout - products:

Lord & Berry Crayon Lipstick in Kiss

Pout - playtime:

It took me a while to decide on the lip to go with this look and I opted for a gorgeous true red with a hint if orange crayon by Lord & Berry. Not only do I love the formula but the application is a dream too. I feel like the shade complimented the look well, but you could probably opt for a brown nude as well?

Brushes used:

EcoTools Define & Highlight Duo* - for all my contour and highlight needs
EcoTools Full Powder* - to seamingly blend all powders together
EcoTools Limited Edition Anniversary Edition* - setting brush was incredible for highlighting nose and cupid's bow
EcoTools Blending & Bronzing Brush* - to apply blush
EcoTools Eye Enhancing Set* - for all the eye makeup playtime needs

I hope you enjoyed this talk through tutorial. It took me a while and together with my girls we came up with the title. The finished look reminds me a lot of long summer evenings, festivals, bar hoping and just having fun. Did I nail it? Let me know!

If there's any look you'd like to see next (and I promise to deliver at least 1 look a month, maybe more, given my schedule won't be as crushing as it has been lately!) let me know! I hope you enjoy the finished look. As always I look forward to your feedback! Sound off in the comments below.
