No makeup makeup day - skincare + makeup picks |
I admit I rarely talk about 'no-makeup makeup' as I don’t tend to go for those quick 5-minute looks. Earlier this year I kind of perfected the ‘I woke up like this’ messy & cheeky look. And whilst I appreciate the powers of full coverage foundations, sometimes even I’d like to stay in bed those few minutes longer. Enter glowing skin, invisible makeup for those days when you care, just not too much!
Let’s start with skincare. Quick cleanse is all I do in the morning and Clinique 2-in-1 Cleansing Micellar Gel + Light Makeup Remover* is perfect for that. Gentle but not stripping it preps my skin perfectly for the rest of the routine. For days when I’m in the need of ‘skin pep talk,’ the new Pep-Start Double Bubble Purifying Mask* helps re-energise my skin in the morning. Easy morning mask which only takes a couple of minutes to reveal a cleansed and radiant complexion. Next up is always Vitamin C and a few drops of Medik8 C-Tetra* give my face all kinds of glow in preparation for ultralight, yet ridiculously hydrating Moisture Surge 72-hour Auto-Replenishing Hydrator. I love this under makeup! The formula sinks in within seconds and keeps my skin happy for even the longest of days in the office. I'm also obsessed with Christian Bretton UV Eye Protection SPF30 PA+*. I love CB's eye creams in general (check out my previous post here) but to have such light formula that performs extremely well under makeup and offers additional SPF specifically for under your eyes has been a blessing so far. After summer I noticed some discolourisation on the very top of my cheekbones where they meet under eyes so I've been keen to introduce additional sun protection to ensure no further damage is done.
Even on my non-makeup days, I tend to go for a little coverage, something along the lines of the Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue (talked about it here before). It’s so light yet perfecting and keeps my skin protected from the rays too with SPF35. I use quite a bit, mind you to ensure the sun protection kicks in. I’ve been using it for years and just started on my 4th tube. Call me obsessed! Afterwards, a Glossier Stretch Concealer (post) is a true gem that covers enough without looking cakey. Perfect for dry and mature skin, you won’t see it’s there. I don’t usually even set my skin on no makeup days, just use a tiny bit of powder like Charlotte Tilbury Genius Magic Powder under eyes and around bridges of the nose.
To finish up my look, I go with natural brows and colour me surprised but I LOVE this Clinique Superfine Liner for Brows in Soft Brown! It’s cheaper than ABH and with its fine tip most perfect for natural brow days. The tip is fine enough to draw on individual brows and it lasts all day too. A couple of coats of the most natural mascara a girl can own aka Clinique High Impact Mascara is all I need for the eyes. I agree the finish isn’t quite what the name suggests, but it separates my lashes nicely and looks like I’m not wearing anything. Perfect for those mornings when you’re staying over at your man’s/work trips etc. Lastly, I add a little flush to my cheeks with Clinique Pop Lip Colour & Primer in Plum Pop and go with another shade in Nude Pop on the lips. I absolutely adore this formula, it’s so hydrating on the lips and gives the most ‘kiss-able’ finish. I chatted about the formula of these lippies before if you fancy a quick read.
10 minutes later (that’s both skin and makeup) I’m done and ready to face another day and you can be too with a free Clinique Gift With Purchase. Simply visit one of Clinique’s counters at your local Debenhams (there’s one in Debenhams, Bullring my Birmingham boys and girls!- check out their Instagram here) and you get to choose 6 out of 9 beauty bits as your own GWP with any purchase of 2 full-size products, one being a foundation or skincare. There's more too. If you buy a 3rd product, you can grab a free full-size Clinique Moisture Surge Overnight Mask. If the moisturiser is anything to go buy, the mask should suit all dehydrated skin types in the autumn/winter time.
What better way to try something new or stock up on your favourites, am I right? Personally, I’d choose both the lippies, as I’m in love with the shades and the formula! Brow pencil is also a must! And if you’re unsure what skincare to pick, just speak to one of the lovely ladies at the counter - they can help you choose after a little skin consultation! You can book your appointment here today!
