IS THIS THE BEST SETTING POWDER FOR DRY SKIN?

Becca Hydra Mist Set & Refresh Powder

You may be here thinking, surely this is a click bait! Well, let me start this review without a cliffhanger. We’re talking about a total innovation that hasn’t been done or at least hyped up before. A setting powder that combines the power of powder and a mist. Intrigued? So was I! Without a further blab fest, let’s us talk about Becca Hydra Mist Set & Refresh Powder

Not cheap at £32 for 10g the revolutionary Becca hybrid Hydra Mist Set & Refresh Powder comes in beautiful packaging with powder bit protected with extra plastic lock (shown in pics below). I think this is to protect it from becoming too warm, which makes me wonder if the formula could be affected by imminent ‘ 3-day summer heatwave’ we usually get. Or perhaps it’s not to get the powder to air dry? Whatever the reason the elements could be affecting the formula, which is something I plan on testing as I go along and use the product for a bit more than two weeks. Back to the packaging. I like it, it’s nothing too crazy, but finished to a high standard we came to expect from Becca. It’s also nothing new, but how do you make a setting powder packaging look any different. No complaints here!

Now the bit you've all been waiting for - the formula. It took me a while to find words and I’ll probably suck at it. The powder is super finely milled. In this aspect, it reminds me of Bare Minerals Mineral Veil Finishing Powder. It’s also almost wet without being wet? It feels cool to touch. I always apply it with Beauty Blender, which picks up product well. This isn’t a powder to bake with, but it’s one that will make you look super flawless. You could even apply it to your bare skin for that undone no makeup look. It’s certainly super blurring and gives the softest finish. Perfect for dry and sensitive skin, when applied it gives that wet & cool feel which I find incredible under eyes and all over the face.

So how does it work? I honestly have no idea. What I do know is that it feels and looks pretty much the best I’ve ever seen a setting powder to look on my dry and dehydrated skin. What it also does is that it really sets your base in place and I have yet to experience any radical shine. Having said that I’ve tried it with two great bases - my favourite formula in the world Smashbox Studio Skin, this time in stick form - look out for review soon and new to me but already scoring good marks IT Cosmetics CC Cream. It mattifies but also doesn’t, it creates that very soft satin canvas with blurred pores and lines. Honestly, it’s the best damn setting powder for dry skin I’ve ever used!

The hybrid bit comes to play when you’d like to refresh your makeup during the day. I’ve not had to do that because it kept my base looking gooooooood, but I did it for kicks and this review lol. This is where I usually find powders to fail miserably on my skin. I hate cakey finish and adding product on top of a hot mess after 12 hours makes cake, simples. Not with Becca Hydra Mist Set & Refresh Powder, again the cooling wet sensation is superb and not only cools you down but beautifully blurs everything out again. Magic.

To sum up, I could not be more in love with the new offering from Becca, but can they even do me wrong. Still waiting on a foundation shade that matches anyone who’s extra fair (or just extra lol!) though, so Becca if you’re listening, if you need to test it on a ghost - I’m here for you!

Becca Hydra Mist Set & Refresh Powder

Back to the Becca Hydra Mist Set & Refresh Powder. I’m going to give this a 10/10 simply because I have found a powder that gave my trusty RCMA No-Colour Powder run for its money. The one slight issue I have is that it’s not brightening, which is something I’d like to see them launch next as this formula with the add-on of serious brightening would simply rock my under eyes even more!
