THE STORY OF GLOW: HOW I DITCHED EVENING MOISTURISER & WHY MY DRY SKIN LOVES IT

Glowing skin in few steps

There are few steps to ensure you wake up to well nourished, hydrated, soothed and glowing complexion. Today, in celebration of #SkincareMonth with Cult Beauty, I’d like to talk to you about the steps I took to transform my skin in just a few short weeks.

Cleanse well.

Double cleanse with Oskia & Allies of Skin

Cleanse well but gently has been my motto. I’ve used a combination of Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel* (first cleanse - read more about how awesome it is here) and my new well loved Allies of Skin Fresh Slate Purifying Cleanser & Masque*. The latter smells of chocolate and not only deeply cleanses but left for few minutes works as a mask helping fight congestion! Don’t let the scent fool you, this is one powerful formula supercharged with salicylic acid & manuka honey that both works to purify and cleanse pores making them appear smaller (nothing makes them go smaller - that’s just a myth, the idea is to keep them cleansed and balanced so they appear smaller). Both cleansers are gentle but remove makeup and grim well.

Exfoliate gently.

Gentle acid exfoliation with Alpha H Liquid Gold Rose

In an effort to give my skin a little break, I only opt for exfoliating every other evening. That means I put away my toners and mists for a couple of weeks. My trusty and gently Alpha H Liquid Gold Rose has been a blessing. I saturate a lint-free pad with the liquid and apply it in upwards motions all over my face and neck. It takes about 2-3 minutes to sink in and while it does it, you can feel it working. Forget the original formula - I compared them here - Rose is the way to go!

Hydrate. Then hydrate some more.

Dehydrated skin? Mist & essence for the rescue

Multi-level hydration is what my dehydrated skin needs. If you’d like to know what I struggle with exactly, please check back to my morning routine post where I give you an intro to my skin. After cleansing & exfoliating I spritz my skin with Allies of Skin Molecular Saviour Mist* which works at not only locking the moisture but also ensuring all other products are absorbed better and my skin takes full advantage of their hydrating properties. Which takes us promptly to step two - Omorovicza Omoressence, the essence of the renowned luxury brand. The water like formula sinks in quickly and provides my skin with all the hydration it needs. It’s so light, you could repeat this step if your complexion is in dire need to hydrate. The two water-based formulas allow my skin to regain all the moisture it needs.

Oils for days.

How I ditched moisturiser for oils

I was recommended the most beautifully scented oil-based serum by a dear friend at Cult Beauty and I fell for it from the first use. It smells divine, a sweet combo of vanilla & fruits and makes such a pleasant step in my skincare routine. I apply less than a pump to my hands & press the product in all over face, neck and décolletage. Leahlani Mahina Evening Replenishing Elixir* is enriched with moringa, marula, prickly pear, passionfruit, carrot seed, meadowfoam and chia seed oils to allow your skin to indulge in a luxurious ritual and wake up to plump, softened skin and replenished cells. While I sleep this gives me the glow my skin so dearly needs and deserves. I allow the product to sink in for at least a couple of minutes before following with another oil. That’s right I’m skipping moisturiser and my dry skin loves it! Once my skin absorbed all the glorious Leahlani elixir, I take 5 drops of Skin Owl Maqui Berry Beauty Drops PM*. This formula rocks! It's a combination of the strongest antioxidants in the world! My skin has all it needs to repair itself overnight and protect it the next day. The superb and ultra luxurious Maqui Oil is supposed to neutralise DNA damaging free radicals so it preps my skin for the morning and the day when I top up its power with a good dose of Niacinamide! The formula is also enriched with powerful argan oil as well as tangerine and vanilla essential oils. I go to sleep, relax and this beauty oil works super hard so I can wake up to less congested, deeply nourished and radiant complexion. Both Leahlani and Skin Owl oils seem to be helping a lot with the redness as well and I’m very grateful to have them in my routine.
