ON MY FACE LATELY

New makeup on my face

It’s been notoriously quiet here on Beauty Drama Queen but life’s been busy. And the last week has been particularly sh*tty. A headache returned with vengeance and scared me shitless. It's been a while since I had to take time off and almost a week at that because of pain. Usually I just push through it but I think my body has finally given in and forced me to rest. I'm still operating at 40% so I'm glad to have some content pre-written. Other than last week, as always, I’ve been not so quietly testing a lot of new makeup and falling back in love with some older bits. Here’s the brand new ‘On my face lately’ and it’s a good one if I say so myself. Off we go then.

LIPSTICK HOARDER GETTING READY FOR FALL: VAMPY LIPS PART 1

Fall is nearly upon us and I, for one, couldn't be happier! I love autumn with its colours, fashion and makeup! There's something magical in changing seasons and autumn makeup is normally the one, we get to experiment in. The looks get darker, more complicated and it means the return of a classic dark berry/purple lip! I tend to rock a vampy lip all year round, but in fall, I feel like it's my god given right to step out with a statement lip.

When I looked through my autumn choices, I knew I'll have to divide this post in two to accommodate all my faves! There's just so many! If you'd like to update your makeup look this fall, have a look with me at the most coveted shades of Autumn '16.

I thought we start with my drugstore options. If you're  unsure if this almost goth chic suits you and your personality, it'a probably the best to start with more affordable choices. I have three here, that won't  break the bank, but offer all the dark berry and purple goodness, you'll want!

This is a deep burgundy shade. It's super pigmented and creamy and it applies well on the lips. You may want to clean up the lines with the lip liner or the brush due to the bullet shape. It stays on for good 3 hours, even longer depending on your snacks/drinks etc. I have a whole post about the Creamy Matte range and it includes the lip swatches if you're interested. At £6.99 it's a great drugstore option.

I'/ a super deep burgundy with a satin finish. The pigmentation is truly amazing and it stays out for 2-4 hours! It's a true stunner and it'll suit any complexion, but it works so beautifully on super pale skin! There's some lip swatches in the post so go check it out! Another great and affordable choice and at £7.99 it won't break the bank either!

It's a great dark red with lots of berry and brown tones. It's satin finish and stays on for good 2-4 hours. Great pigmentation and an easy daytime berry lip choice, as it'all suit most complexions. It's also the most affordable option and at £4.99 guaranteed drugstore hit!

From left: Black Cherry, Divine Wine, Inglot 438, Eugene, Glaston-Berry, Starry-Eyed, Inglot 20

It won't be me, if I also didn't have some more pro and luxury brands for you to choose from and I think I came up with great selection here, including one liquid lipstick. I will focus more on liquid lips and high end in general in part two, but I couldn't not mention these 4 great choices!

Formula reminds me of MAC Retro Mattes and from the swatches you can see why! It's a drag to apply! I didn't use lip brush and couldn't get an opaque finish. However with the lip liner and a brush it works great! The dark red shade is just so pretty and the most vibrant of the choices today. It's super Matte so it wears well too! It's also little cheaper than MAC! Inglot is a professional makeup brand and the prices reflect that. At £13 it': still not too expensive so I recommend trying a shade or two and see what you think!

It's the deepest berry shade I'm showing you today and with hints of purple! Absolutely stunning on the lips! Formula is very long lasting and it applies well on the lips! Super Matte finish will guarantee you questions and looks about your statement lip! It costs £14 a pop so it's quite a standard price point for liquid lips!

MAC Giambattista Valli in Eugene

Ok, so it's little unfair to show you a limited edition MAC that's not available to buy, but the shade's so gorgeous I couldn't leave it out! It' super rich berry purple with Matte finish and superb pigmentation! It stays well on the lips and it just screams fall to me! As per usual with MAC formula is just great, the scent super pleasant and LE packaging also very pleasing! Love it!

The most expensive of the bunch, this dark purple with berry hints has a great pigmentation and creamy formula. I must admit, I didn't like it when I bought it late last year. MY lips weren't in perfect condition then and it looked patchy and awful. However now I learnt to care for my lips, this is a completely different story. It applies well and stays put for up to 3-4 hours (without food) and it's comfortable on the lips. It's still not my ideal formula but for die hard Charlotte's fans out there - it's already a cult autumn shade.

What are your fave autumn lip choices? Do you go mauve or opt in for dark berries and purples? What shades can you recommend? I'll have part two for you very soon (hopefully next week) with more liquid lips choices and different finishes (hello metallic!). I hope you'll have an amazing weekend. I'll be living it up in London with some lovely blogger friends at Smashbox event, so don't forget to check out my Snapchat (i.dorottka) and Insta Stories for live coverage :)

NEW IN: MAYBELLINE COLOR SENSATIONAL THE CREAMY MATTES UNDER THE RADAR WITH LIP SWATCHES

Good morning my beauties. Today I'd like to talk to you about my slight lipstick obsession of the last month or so. Maybellibe Sensational Creamy Matte Lipstick recently premiered in UK with 6 shades. Shades are really stunning, even though full selection isn't available. There are quite a few more shades available in US but we have to be happy with what we have here :)

Packaging

I don't mind the packaging as I normally do with drugstore lipsticks, it's a well made matte, plastic. It doesn't wow me either as no magnetic lock makes me think twice before just throwing it in my handbag. As for it's price it isn't bad though, it won't break easily which is a plus.

Formula

As promised by a producent, formula is very creamy and goes on nicely on the lip. It's very similar to the formula of MAC matte but without the dryness of retro matte finish. It goes on smoothly but due to the bullet shape you may want to have a lip brush on hand to correct the application. I find them less drying than Bourjois Velvet Mattes or retro mattes by MAC. They sit comfortably on the lip for up to 5 hours. Standard wear time will be between 3-5 hours depending on how much you plan to eat in the meantime. It wears off nicely too, leaving pigment behind so you only need to top it off once during a 8 hour at the office.

Shades:

Nude Embrace is a warm, light brown nude. Looks very natural on the lips, perfect colour to choose for that smokey eye or a daytime look.

Rose Rush is a light Barbie pink. I am not the biggest fan of this colour on it's own but mixed with Nude Embrace it creates a lovely pinkish nude. Great for daytime.

Magnetic Magenta is the most vibrant colour of the bunch. Very pigmented fuchsia, perfect daytime and evening statement lip. Cool toned so it whitens your teeth just a little bit.

Craving Coral is the coral red with orange undertones. Again very pigmented and will work best on someone little tanned. Another daytime staple for those warm daytime smokey eye.

Siren in Scarlet is a vibrant red. Beautiful shade for every day red lip. I really love how vibrant it is and how well it works with any eye makeup.

Divine Wine is a deep burgundy. Perfect autumn shade and very pigmented. Great for a daytime statement lip.

If I were to choose my favourites, Magnetic Magenta, Siren in Scarlet and Divine Wine have stolen my heart. I prefer a statement lip to the nudes and I really enjoy wearing these shades. I also like the formula as they are comfortable on my dry lips. Wear time is also great and for £6.99 they are smashing drugstore matte lipstick game :)

What do you think about Creamy Mattes? Any of them stolen your heart? Sound off in the comments below.

Unbox with me: THE DREAM BOX IV British Beauty Blogger for Latest in Beauty

Hello my lovelies :) Hope your week has been treating you well so far:) Weekend is upon us and I just can't wait <3 I come to you today with a very special edition of Unbox with me. Today we are talking about newest collaboration of an amazing UK blogger Jane from British Beauty Blogger with Latest in Beauty. If you don't already know, you can check her out on Bloglovin' and Instagram - I'm obsessed !!

Let's dig in. Box isn't anything fancy in itself, standard LiB box. It's priced at £21.95 plus P&P and values at a whooping £106.20. It includes 15 beauty treats both full size and samples. I think the selection, as with any of Jane's previous signature boxes, is excellent !! You will find here everything from skincare, through body, hair and makeup, including accessories.  There's so many I'm super duper excited to try !! I'm babbling already... Let's start then, shall we?

Bare Minerals Marvellous Moxie Lipstick in Raise The Bar (sample £7.00)

I was excited to see a lip product in the box and not because I'm only slightly obsessed with lipsticks... Just a tad really lol ;) I am new convert to Bare Minerals thanks to the amazing Complexion Rescue but I haven't ventured out yet to try anything else. Shade is certainly difficult to describe. Pigmentation is great. Jane describes it as "on the side of nude". I can certainly see why, it's not that much darker than a dark nude but it has a certain berry like kick to it plus a metallic sheen with gold. I'm not sure if it's something I will be wearing a lot... I am forever a member of matte lip club and I rarely stray... It's a beautiful shade in its own light and I will most definitely give it a good test :)

Erborian CC Cream (sample 15 ml value £17.00)

Super excited about this one. It's a brand I have never heard of before and I get so excited trying new things. I'm also a convert to the world of CC creams (hin at the above BM Complexion Rescue mention) as I find that I tend to go for less coverage, more natural look these days (getting old, aye?). This cream goes on without a colour, it's near white with a little pigment beads. It supposed to adjust to our own skin tone, which sounds amazing. It feels very light when swatched on the back of the hand, moisturising. It's SPF25 as well, making it a great daytime choice :)

L'Oreal Paris Telescopic Carbon Black Mascara (full size RPR £10.99)

I only recently converted to L'Oreal mascaras as previously I would always go for Maybelline if buying drugstore. This is a lengthening mascara so I will be curious to see how well it works. I tend to go for volumising mascaras in general but I'm happy to gives this one a go. Can never have too many mascaras right?

Collection Speedy Blush Stick in Cheeky (full size RPR £3.99)

I have to say I really like this shade. Nice coral pink gives enough pigmentation without being to overbearing. Easy to blend with both fingers and brush, it gives you the illusion of those perfect flushed cheeks :) I like cheek products and I am already wearing it today. Wear time unto 5-6 hours which isn't bad for a cream product as I don't powder my face anymore :)

Crown Brush Pro Studio Contour Brush (RPR £9.99)

I haven't tried any Crown Brushes before and I think me and this contour brush will be great friends. Well cut soft bristles and well made brush. So far so good. i will be testing it more and I will report back. The only minus it's black and silver and you know how much I love everything rose gold...

Nuxe Prodigieux Eye Cream (full size £18.50)

I like Nuxe. I found quite a few products in different beauty boxes and I love their overnight mask (already repurchased twice !!) So I'm super excited to see something different. Good eye cream is a must and if it helps with reducing bags and dark cicles the better :) Really happy to receive it and I will be adding it to my routine once I'm done with my current eye cream !

REN Evercalm Gentle Cleansing Milk (sample 25 ml value £2.75)

It supposed to be ideal for skin that irritates easily. I am a perfect person to test this theory then. I am yet to find a product that removes makeup effectively and leaves my skin redness free... I have high hopes as I adore REN as a brand. Testing here I come :)

L'Occitane Almond Oil (sample 35 ml value £3.00)

This isn't the biggest sample but according to Jane a few drops goes a long way transforming in a beautiful foam. I am a huge fan of oil and wanted to venture in to the world of shower oils for a while now. I love L'Occitane, they rarely disappoint.

Soap & Glory The Righteous Butter mini (50 ml value £2.50)

If you once smelled any S&G skincare you know they are glorious !! Combine that with great moisturising qualities and you found yourself a perfect match. I am a little body butter lazy but this little guy will end up in my office where I will use it instead of hand cream :)

Crabtree & Evelyn La Source Hand Therapy (full size RPR £9.00)

Talking about hand creams... C&E hand creams win award after award and for good reason. In my experience they moisturise very well and are great value for money. Yes they may be a little more pricey than my second favourite Hand Food from S&G but they are worth it. Excellent addition to the box.

Beauty Kitchen Love Me Wonderbalm (full size RPR £2.99)

Multi-purpose balms are great. You can use this one for your chapped a/w lips or for any dry skin really. It's hidden in a tin packaging which reminds me of old school mints. Great in theory as mine is really loose which doesn't do for great travelling compagnion. Plus the smell is a little too much for me. It'll be gifted to someone who can maybe appreciate it more :)

Maybelline Dr Rescue SOS Nail Balm (full size RPR £3.99)

Now that's a great idea. If it works well it will be the best one I have ever used. It comes in a stick form which is so smart for what it is. Great handbag add on and goodbye dry cuticles (hopefully !!)

KMS California Moistrepair Shampoo & Conditioner (75 ml each value £4.50 & £5.00 respectively)

I have to admit this brand is new to me but I like how big the samples are and for my long hair, for once I will be able to properly test the products :) Any moisturising haircare is great for me as with my blonde hair moisture is what they're lacking :)

Shay & Blue Framboise Noire Fragrance (2 ml sample value £5.00)

I am so bad at describing fragrances so I will cite from Jane herself. This is a sumptuous fruity rush of dark berries. From me I'll add it's quite intoxicating. I love little perfume samples. Great for handbag or travel :)

This is it !! Huge and exciting box from Latest in Beauty. I am totally in love with it !! So many great sample and full size products. The ones that win it for me? Definitely Nuxe Eye Cream and Erborian CC Cream. Of course this is based purely on first impressions. There's so many products I really like here and I will be using them all, well maybe minus the Beauty Kitchen Balm, because the scent is just not for me :)

What do you think ladies? Sound off in the comments below xx

Affordable eyeshadow base - new Maybelline Color Tattoos Creamy Matte range (+ Leather Effect), do they really work?

Hi Ladies. It's another gloomy day here in UK but I'm having an excellent day. I'm working till late afternoon and then I'm off to see a friend for a little evening at the spa (and a sleepover- enter excited, dancing emojis here). Weekend will be a busy one too, with a birthday party on a Saturday so I'm busy typing my weekends posts to make sure they publish while I'm having a blast/curing a hangover whichever comes first lol.

I have waited patiently for new Maybelline Color Tattoos to launch here in UK. And once they did, I was super excited to pick them up :) It was 3for2 offer in Boots, so I picked up 2 new Creamy Matte shades as well as good, old Leather Effect in Creamy Beige.

First impressions? Well as per usual they come in lovely glass pots with the colour and range clearly displayed on the lids. And here comes the tricky part. Whatever colour you think you see on a lid is a little different to what you'll get when swatching them on the back of your hand (and by little I mean A LOT DIFFERENT). Do I mind? A little, yes. It's a little false advertising especially where it's difficult to find a tester in Boots.

Formula. I'm so used to shimmer Color Tattoos to have a very good pigmentation, that these have been a little disappointing. They offer a good pigmentation, just not a great one. The winner being Color Tattoo Leather Effect in Creamy Beige, followed closely by Color Tattoo Creamy Matte in Crème de Rose. Out of the three Crème de Nude have the weakest pigmentation (you can see it on swatches below). Back to formula itself, all seem to be of very creamy consistency which means you need to apply with a light hand. If you use too much they may crease on you throughout the day. I find that if you set it with a little powder (especially in the crease) you will avoid it altogether.

Application. They are very easy to apply and a little goes a long way. I find that with Crème de Nude I tend to apply it all over the lid up to a brow bone whilst others only all over the lid and in the crease due to their respective colours.

From the bottom: Creamy Beige, Crème de Rose, Crème de Nude (natural light, no flash)

Crème de Nude - light matte beige with yellow undertone. Pigmentation is a little weaker than in the others, however it still works beautifully to prime the lid and cover any redness, veins etc

Crème de Rose - light ashy pink. Pigmentation is great, works great to prime the lid and it can be used on it's own, given you set it with powder. It will work great for those makeup no makeup days when you just want your lids to look natural, just a little better, if you know what I mean :) I have to admit this is my favourite of them all :)

Creamy Beige - very light ashy brown. Pigmentation is great. This colour was the biggest surprise as I thought I will be getting a beige and it's nowhere close. It does work well, you can use it as a base or on it's own (again - don't forget to set it even if just in the crease).

I like the formula of Color Tattoos and these don't go too far from the originals. I must admit I love Crème de Rose. I find the colour the closest to my natural colour of the eye lid so it works beautifully as a base for me. It is not something I would use for a long day though. It will prolong your eyeshadow by few hours, sure, but they are nowhere close to the perfection that is Urban Decay Primer Potion. If you are a beginner and looking to update your collection by a good base, look no further. These will work great. If you have a very oily eye lid, I wouldn't recommend it unless you set them well with the powder and even then I can't guarantee the results. For me they're getting 3 out of 5*. Definitely worth their price and as a huge Color Tattoo fan I would probably re-purchase but as I said there are few bits that annoy me with them.

What do you think ladies? Have you had a chance to try them yet? Let me know what you think in the comments below.

Thank you for reading.
Love,
