Freshly Cosmetics Red Velvet Oil Serum gave me an Oilgasm

There are times when something simply pops up and gets you all excited. For me, that moment was the premiere of Freshly Cosmetics Red Velvet Oil Serum. Having heard so many great things about the brand from my fellow skincare enthusiasts, the new launch really grabbed my attention. Did I need a new facial oil? Not really. I’m glad I decided to take the plunge, and I’m pleased to introduce you to the new Oilgasm, part 2. Intrigued? Let me tell you all about it.

I’ve tested the new Freshly Cosmetics Red Velvet Oil Serum for just over 5-6 weeks but fell for it after the first use, similar to my first ever Oilgasm. The 100% natural combination of 15 oils and 5 actives promises to work hard at reducing inflammation, plumping out fine lines, expression lines and wrinkles, firming skin, soothing irritation, treating redness and even blemishes and eczema. Yet it’s the scent that got me hooked - a natural combination of guava, papaya, pomegranate, rose and violet doesn’t irritate even as it lingers lightly for a while. Whilst the scent is quite important to me as proven by my love for skincare from Emma Hardie, RÅ Oils and more, it’s the formula that really blew my mind. Enriched with linseed, evening primrose, rosehip, chia, marula, black cumin, macadamia, inca, borage and meadow foam oils has proved itself to not only deeply nourish and moisturise but also rebuild the skin’s barrier improving firmness, elasticity and radiance all whilst plumping out fine lines thanks to all natural actives such as wakame, criste marine and pure zingiber. I swear my forehead looks 5 years younger! Yes, it’s a combination of a great skincare routine, but since introducing Red Velvet Oil Serum, I noticed a difference not only in how my skin looks, and it looks fantastic, but also in how it feels. It’s kept redness and sensitivity at bay whilst caring for all my skin’s concerns. The actives are full of antioxidant properties, whilst oils are naturally high in vitamin C content.

Freshly Cosmetics Red Velvet Oil Serum - the new IT oil for nightime?

I use it at night as prescribed by the brand and tend to use just over a half of the pipette for the face, neck and décolletage. The oil is silky and rich but certainly not heavy. It sinks in fairly quickly too. A combination of serum and oil formula, it makes for the perfect last step in my routine. I tend to double cleanse, use a hydrating toner & a mist, then a hyaluronic acid-based serum topped up with Freshly Cosmetics Red Velvet Oil Serum. It ensures my skin is super hydrated and stays this way. I always strive to the naturally radiant complexion and the routine I keep definitely helps me achieve that. I’ve not experienced any irritation or discomfort in the weeks since introducing this oil into my routine. That says a lot, as my skin is often dehydrated and stressed, but it’s been behaving well lately. I’ve also not experienced any congestion or breakouts in the last month, even during my usual ‘hormonal period chin’ period. I feel this oil will work for dry and combination skin, maybe even oily thanks to antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties of oils and actives in the formula.

I’ve used up around 15-20% of the 30ml bottle and as I mentioned above, I’m not being overly stingy with it. At regular price, it costs £31 for 30ml, but I bought it with their -25% offer at £23.25 - a total bargain, which happens quite often too, so it’s definitely worthwhile to sign up to their newsletter or follow them on Instagram. A fellow skincare junkie also has a code for them which I think is still valid, try ZARRINE20 on checkout to get -20% off your purchase sitewide. There is definitely more skincare from Freshly that I’d like to try, like their Blue Radiance Enzymatic Serum - Mummy’s Beauty Corner raved about it some time ago, as well as Healthy Protection Body and Facial sunscreens - a brand new launches from the brand. And if you’re on a lookout for a new cleanser - I’ve also been trying out their award-winning Rose Quartz Facial Cleanser which is not only superb as a second cleanse but also smells fantastic and have many terrific reviews from beauty bloggers and journalists alike. At £16 (full price) it won’t break the bank either!
