I'm a little of a brush connoisseur. I have a pretty good idea what a good brush should look and feel like and in process of elimination I try to reduce (yes reduce!) my collection. Doing beauty for a while makes you appreciate quality over quantity (how am I even saying this??) and I just find I love some more than others. Don't get me wrong, I don't throw them away, I rotate a lot, but I mostly use brushes less now.
I find that washing brushes can be overwhelming so by reducing the quantity I use, I make myself do it more often. Whoever told you that washing you brushes therapeutic lied, just lied. Oh did I mention that before? My bad! Lol. I think the more brushes I got, the less relaxing it became to wash them and I started to panic a day or two before. That may sound dramatic, but simple things like that can sometimes bring out anxiety attacks, so I try to avoid making myself nervous over something this silly and easily avoidable.
Now I've been ranting for way too long, as usual, let's go back to the subject at hand - Eco Tools brushes. I'm sure you've heard of them and seen them everywhere lately. EcoTools not only re-branded but also totally changed the bristles used and the design of their brushes! If you're interested which ones I recommend and what's on my wishlist, please read on.
Environmentally friendly
EcoTools brushes are PETA certifies, so 100% vegan and cruelty-free! The handles are made of bamboo fibres and the packaging from recyclable paper, bamboo, aluminium and plastic.
Design
I really like how the design, whilst sticking to the original roots of using bamboo handles, changed to lighter, ash oak almost shade with grey matte metal details. The bristles are super soft, two-toned and very well cut. Did I mention soft? Did I? Ok, they are SUPER SOFT (yes caps were important here!). Brushes are still light, but have some weight to them, which makes for better application. I prefer the design of single brushes to these double ended.
My favourites
I got send quite a lot of brushes and for any brush fanatic, that's a dream come true! I love almost every brush in the collection yet I still have my favourites! I thought I'll talk to you about them separately here.
EcoTools Full Powder* - large powder brush with soft bristles and dome-like shape. Perfect for powder application and to blend out the edges of your blush/bronzer. I like to go over my face with some Hourglass powder and this brush is perfect for it!
EcoTools Blending & Bronzing* - large duo fibre with super soft bristles and dome shape, that's more flat at the top. Perfect for bronzer application. I love it for my Hoola Lite bronzer to add some warmth to my complexion. It applies product lightly and evenly.

EcoTools Define* - medium dome-shaped brush with super soft bristles. This is a mini version of the full powder brush. Perfect for contour application, adding blush and even topical powder application.
EcoTools Airbrushed Finishing* - typical duo fibre, much less dense than Blending & Bronzing. Perfect to add a flush of blush to the cheeks. It applies a very little product, so great for those with super pigmentation.
EcoTools Powder/Blush* - Flattened dome-shaped brush with super soft bristles and medium density. Great for a touch of contour and blush! I really enjoy using it for blush. It picks up more product than the Airbrushed Finishing, which makes it great for those less pigmented blushes.

EcoTools Highlight* - flattened large fan brush. I love it for highlight but it works brilliantly for contour. I recommend you try it this way, you won't be disappointed. Bristles are again ultra soft but quite dense so makes for picking up product easily!
EcoTools Controlled Setting* - flattened small dome brush. It's so soft and works great for setting under eyes with powder. I prefer to apply highlight with it, as it picks up a fair amount of product!
Happy 10th birthday EcoTools
I totally ripped open the packaging of EcoTools 10th anniversary set and I'm not even sorry. It comes with a beautiful recycled aluminium brush holder in. Beautiful copper/rose gold! I'll be using it for travel to keep my eye brushes with. The set comes with 6 great brushes and Controlled Setting & Airbrushed Finishing form the part of the set. There are also 4 other eye brushes, so definitely recommend you check it out if you're looking for a gift or planning to treat yourself.

Overview:
EcoTools are definitely underrated on the saturated brush market. The quality is pretty incredible given the price point & works well within cruelty-free brush world. The design is gorgeous and I admit, I prefer the new design. It's more aesthetically pleasing. I like the combination of light bamboo handles and grey matte metal detail. It looks chic & most importantly durable. I've washed mine at least 5 times already and noticed zero shedding. Bristles dry super fast too, which is always a plus. If you're in the market for new face brushes, I honestly can't recommend them enough!

I have never tried their brushes, I bought a set of Zoeva ones when I started with beauty and only made a few additions over the years.

I haven't tried eco tools brushes before but love the sound of these! X
ReplyDeleteI bought the eyebrow duo and magnifying brush and I am in love with both! That said, I didn't have much luck with the sponges. The smaller one leaves a streaky, uneven finish and the bigger one seems to absorbs too much product for my liking.
ReplyDeleteThey look so nice! I need to try this brand more!
