Summer to autumn trend here to stay feat. Eyeko Midnight Blue Mascara Drama & Curl

Good morning ladies. Happy Saturday to you all :) I've been absent again due to family and friends commitments as well as feeling poorly with a cold. I'm little better now, I stopped sneezing & couching (FINALLY!!!)

I'm coming back with a 90s trend which crept his way back over the summer. BLUE MASCARA :) Or any colour for that matter. Benefit was the first to release range of colours in the last few months with purple, brown and blue coming back to the world of makeup. You may love it or hate it but the colour eyelashes are here to stay.

When I recently received Eyeko's Midnight Blue Mascara I was really happy, as I knew I wouldn't buy it myself. It reminded me too much of my first experiences with mascara and makeup back in the 90s and my teenage years. Thank God we haven't had iPhones back then, as every weekend I was rocking pink shimmer eyeshadow and blue mascara... Yes I was (enter crying emoji).

I must admit I quite like the idea of something a little different in your daytime makeup. Splash of colour, especially, if put together with metallic browns on the eye.

Back to mascara itself. It's not the best mascara I've ever used and with three coats it will start clumping. Two coats though will look very natural, it gives you enough volume and curl to open your eye in the morning. It's also not a vibrant blue, in fact it looks very natural. Gives eye the definition it needs but without the wow factor.

I tested it over 3 days. Day one. I was lounging and lazying away on a sofa with Netflix. Mascara stayed on all day, didn't budge. Day two, I was working most morning & afternoon, then went for a little shopping and coffee with my bestie. Again it didn't budge and my friend complimented me on my delicate yet modern look, as she called it. 3rd day was the best as I got surprised with the rain on my way back from the doctors. Humidity was ridiculous as well. Mascara budged but only slightly which I was really impressed by. Removal process isn't too bad either making it a pretty good choice.

Packaging is a little tube, with angled brush. I had a bit of problem with it going all over my upper eyelid as you can see on an eye swatch. I have a travel friendly 4ml sample size and I'm glad as I can't see myself using it too often. Would I buy full size? Probably not and I think all the coloured mascara's should be available in sample sizes :) Full size 8.5 ml RPR is £18.00 and available from Birchbox website.

So what do you think? Are you pro trying a new trend and finding a wearable way to apply it to your daily routines, or do you just stick with black? Sound off in the comments below :)

Thanks for stopping by & I'll see you next time.

Let's be friends:

  1. I agree with you that all colored mascaras should come in sample sizes. I've been wanting to try a blue one for a while now, but since I know I wouldn't wear it often, I don't want to invest in a full size that would dry out before I can use much.

    1. I would really like to try the purple one from Benefit. i need to stop by their counters to see if they came out in sample sizes yet :)

  2. This mascara looks nice and it's not OTT blue, great for creative makeup looks ;) x

    1. It's not something I would repurchase however it makes me want to buy all They're Real coloured mascaras as I prefer the formula with benefit ones. I need to go to a counter next to see if they sell them in sample sizes as well as I'd like to try a purple one. I think it will work beautifully with the colour of my eyes :)

  3. Love this look hun! I'm tempted myself! x
