Stepping out in an autumn sun. Daytime look with statement lip feat. Maybelline Creamy Matte lipstick in Divine Wine.

Hello my beauties. Another week of October is behind us and I come to you with a daytime look proposition. When I think of fall months, a strong lip comes to mind. Dark berry, dark purple, red or fuchsia. There's so much colour to play around with, so much beauty to take inspiration from. Darkened leaves, autumn sun... Covering up with jumpers, wearing heavy heel boots - it's all part of the charm for me. We haven't had much summer this year and autumn has been unpredictable so far. Giving us beautiful days like today or gloomy, rainy apocalyptic days like yesterday. I'm enjoying watching it all from the comforts of my warm beauty room and taking it all in before the winter comes.

Today's look goes easy on the eye. There's definition but all is closed in confinement of neutral, light colours. The idea behind it is to create a smooth, defined canvas, so the lips are the most visible feature.

I discovered Maybelline Sensational Creamy Matte lipsticks by chance when browsing in Boots. I picked up a full range available in UK (6 colours) and I will continue to test them all for you. Review coming soon. I needed to try and play around with Divine Wine first. It's a quintesence of autumn lip: dark, almost gothic but warm.

Face:

I kept my base to minimum. Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue mixed with L'Oreal Infallible for better coverage, set with MUA Pro-Base Prime & Conceal Powder and Makeup Revolution Radiance Palette (first two shades mixed).

I contoured using Makeup Revolution Ultra Contour Palette (contour shade) and warmed up my complexion using the lighter and warmer bronzer shade from the same palette. I wanted highlight to be subtle and used MUR Radiance palette again on high point of my face as well as T-Zone (shade 2).

Eyes:

I primed my lids using Maybelline Color Tattoo in Creamy Beige. I blended it out in the crease and above using Frisk and Stark from Naked 2 Basics mixed together. I added a little Cover in the outer corners and on the bottom lid (halfway through). Again blended out both with Frisk. I wanted a liner but didn't want it to overshadow the lip. I used Eye of Horus Babylon Brown Liquid Define. This liner is pretty awesome. It has incredible staying power and application is super easy with its thin felt tip. Two coats of mascara finished the job. I left brows nearly bare. I used Milani Brow Wax and brushed through them to create a messy brow look.

Lips:

I applied Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte lipstick in Divine Wine straight from a bullet. In areas where I needed more definition, I took a little on a lip brush and finished the lip. I'm in love with this shade. It's rich and super pigmented. It stays on well and fades away evenly. I didn't have problems with it leaking outside of lines, even though I didn't use lip liner.

I hope you like my quick and easy take on autumn. You could probably make it even simpler by leaving Colour Tattoo eyeshadow alone and just setting it with some translucent powder but I wanted to give the eye the minimum definition as I prefer it this way with a statement lip.

Thank you for reading.
Love,

Dorota x
