WIDE AWAKE EDIT

Beauty tricks to looking well rested.

Looking awake when you struggle with sleep is something I know all too well. Puffiness, dark circles and first signs of ageing can make anyone look tired all the time. For me, it’s a constant battle. Thankfully there is an answer to that. From skincare to makeup, there’s a way to look fresh and awake in the morning despite insomnia.

Puffiness, be gone.

Thanks to Christian Bretton Ice Stick Eye Contour* I said goodbye to puffy eyes. This clever innovation combines the BSC Multifruit Complex, Rose Musk extract, Ginko Biloba and Marine Elastin to tackle both puffiness and first signs of ageing. The instant cooling sensation helps feel awake and works instantly, whilst light formula sinks in within seconds and works great under makeup. I used many products similar to this in the past, but none worked quite as well. My eyelids and under eyes can get quite puffy due to medication I’m on so nothing quite worked in the past. This stick is different and when kept in the fridge it delivers instant results. Highly recommended!

Dark circles no more.

I’ve been singing praises about Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer for a while and decided it was time to bring it back to the blog. It’s my most used concealer to date and nothing before worked quite the same. Not only, is the shade Fair ultra light and perfect for anyone as pale as this girl, but the coverage it offers is quite something! I find that it covers so well, I don’t worry about looking tired all day (and night) long. It looks fresh for up to 16 hours, doesn’t set in fine lines and simply brightens the under eye area so well. I use it all over to contour as well and it works miracles. I really need a back up as I feel this will run out soon! It’s pricey here in the UK as only available in a set with a sponge from QVC so I may have to order a couple from Tarte and brace the customs charges!

Application made easy.

I am a huge believer in beauty sponges and rarely go a day without my Beauty Blender. Recently I have been gifted this smart new Brush Works Definer Complexion Sponge*, which is slanted from both sides and makes application of both liquid and powder products a quick and easy one. I really enjoy applying powder to set the concealer with this, as it helps to apply it exactly where I need it. Baking with this is superb, not just under-eyes but under the cheek contour too. Brilliant little toy and affordable too. It’s not as soft as Beauty Blender, but it does the job flawlessly. Easy to wash out too.

Set & brighten.

The newest addition to my collection and a powder that finally replaced my well loved RCMA No Color Powder is the touchinSOL Pang Pang Sun Cutting Powder SPF30 PA++*. Super finely milled and white, it’ll work for anyone with fair to medium complexion. Especially under eyes, as it not only keeps shine at bay, but also brightens like crazy. The addition of SPF30 in a powder form is a welcomed one as we rarely remember we need SPF around the eyes and many liquid forms aren’t delicate enough to use there. I’ve only used it few times so far, but I already love how well it works with my Tarte concealer. I’ll report back how it fares on top of foundation, as I only used it with one so far but it passed a test with glowing review as an under eye setting powder!

  4. Urgh, I need all the help with the puffiness I can get! As much as I love the sound of the stick, I fear only fillers will get rid of mine. The Pang Pang powder looks intriguing! Xx

  7. Informative post. Skin around eyes is very sensitive. Products that contain gentle, non-irritating compounds that reduce the appearance of wrinkles, along with a wide range of vitamins, antioxidants, and skin-plumping substances are ideal choices.Revitol eye cream is very effective in curing eye wrinkles. It's a must try cream.
