THE ONLY WAY IS MUD

Mud masks for all skin types

Mud heals. In a true Louis Litt fashion, I enjoy a little mud. I never thought for a second that any type of mud would suit my rather dry skin, but surprise surprise! I’ve been using a fair few masks and I’d like to share some of my absolute faves today. From Dr Organic, through Pixi and Merumaya to Charlotte Tilbury, I feel anyone can find a mud mask to suit their skin needs.

What does it do, you may ask? Mud draws out impurities. It cleanses your pores. It tightens. It rids your skin of gunk. It moisturises. It brightens. Mud is everything. Let's start mudding!

Pixi Glow Mud Mask | £18.00 for 30ml | POST

Pixi Glow Mud Mask

The newest addition to my mask stash offers a 15-minute facial in a tube. Creamy and easily spreadable, the smell is fantastic and reminds me a little of Christmas marzipan. It cleanses deeply and energises the skin thanks to mineral-rich mud, aloe vera and ginseng. 5% Glycolic Acid gently exfoliates and reveals a clearer, more glowing complexion. 15 minutes is enough to transform the complexion from dull to radiant.

Dr Organic Dead Sea Mineral Detoxifying Bio-Plasma Mud Mask | £7.99 - £9.95 for 100ml

Dr Organic Dead Sea Mineral Detoxifying Bio-Plasma Mud Mask

If you like your skincare to tingle (and if so read this by my lovely friend Siobhán) you can literally feel this mask working. It gets some getting used to, but I find the mask to cleanse and detox the skin. Pores are tightened, any acne related changes heal faster and skin appears firmer with every use. Kaolin, Aloe Vera and Dead Sea Mineral Salt rich formula is enriched with Vit C, extracts from Kelp, Bladderwrack, Algae & Plankton, as well as Bitter Orange Leaf, Mandarin Peel, Pine Needle, Thyme Flower, Wild Mint and Spearmint oils. Free from Parabens, SLS and other nasties formula make it an excellent choice for any healthy skincare enthusiast!

Merumaya Mud Marvels Mask* | £19.50 for 50ml

Merumaya Mud Marvels Mask

Another Kaolin clay based mask enriched with a great mixture of nourishing Oat and Sweet Almond oils. Add on charcoal, volcanic ash and natural AHA blend and it makes a perfect choice for any complexion in a serious need of a detox. Super creamy, it sets fairly quickly. It leaves my skin feeling clean, soft and calm. Perfect for those days when your skin’s misbehaving! It helps skin’s recovery due to its oxygenating properties. Slightly exfoliating, it leaves my skin radiant the very next day!

Charlotte Tilbury Goddess Skin Clay Mask | £38.00 for 75ml | POST

Charlotte Tilbury Goddess Skin Clay Mask

It’s a funny one. On one hand, it leaves my skin visibly better. Pores are tightened, skin radiant and firmer, yet nothing in the formula suggests magic it promises. It’s quite on a pricey side too, so it won’t suit everyone’s budget. Mixture of Kaolin, natural oils (Sweet Almond and Rose), natural AHAs (Citric Acid) and enriched with Vitamin C cleanses and brightens and is recommended for dry and problematic skin types. I love using it in the morning on a weekend when I have a little more time to myself and can enjoy the glorious glow it gives me without loading makeup over it. One to watch and if you’re not on a budget, I highly recommend it.
