NEW IN SKINCARE: GET THAT GLOW WITH BURTS BEES, ORDINARY, ORIGINS, MOKOSH & SUKIN

I'm all about a glowing complexion. Be this skincare or makeup, I look out for ingredients, the formulas that will give the dewiest finish. Having dehydrated and sensitive skin doesn't make it easy believe me. I'm also prone to hormonal breakouts around my chin, so my skincare routine changes often as I always adhere to my current needs. There's one constant here and that's exfoliators. I exfoliate regularly. I can't recommend it enough, you have to see for yourself. Results can be instant or come over time but best skincare always offers both. I have been playing around with some newbies lately and I thought the time has come to introduce them to you on this Monday morning! So grab a cuppa, sit comfortably and let's talk skincare!

Cleansing

It all starts with cleansing, doesn't it? I can't tell you how much my skin has improved since I started to double cleanse. At first, the results were minor but now, I can tell easily just by looking at you if you cleanse well.

Burts Bees Cleanser Soap Bark & Chamomile Deep Cleansing Cream | £11.49 for 170ml

Burts Bees have definitely been a brand full of surprises this year. I have been so into their new lipsticks - POST - and now the cleanser. This super rich deep cleansing cream leaves my skin so soft and smooth it's unreal. 99.9% natural formula is what doctor's recommended! Soap bark is derived from the endemic tree Quillaja Saponaria originated in Chile. Can be used as a natural soap, cleanser and even foaming agent but also contains antioxidants and proteins. It gently removes dirt,  traces of makeup & regulates oils. Enriched with chamomile for its soothing properties which I can certainly vouch for. What I didn't expect to see in the ingredients list was menthol. When applied, the sensation is a little weird at first but I quickly got used to it. It's very cooling and because of it, I wouldn't recommend it around eyes. It doesn't sting them at all but the cooling sensation makes my eyes water. I use a fair amount of product all over my face (excluding eyes) and my neck. I then massage it gently using circular motions starting in the middle and going outwards. The thick consistency makes for a great mask too. I will certainly explore this option more in the future. This is a second cleanse choice for me, for sure. The tub is huge and will last for a while and the cooling makes it super interesting for upcoming warmer months. Formulated without parabens, phthalates or petrolatum which is a huge plus! It makes me want to try more cleansers from Burts Bees and I'll probably go for Orange Essence Facial Cleanser or Radiance Facial Cleanser next!

Ingredients: Aqua (water, eau), helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil, stearic acid, glycerin, cetyl alcohol, cetearyl alcohol, cocos nucifera (coconut) oil, coco-glucoside, silica,, quillaja saponaria bark extract, chamomilla recutita (matricaria) flower extract, Echinacea purpurea extract, hamamelis virginiana (witch hazel) leaf extract, aloe barbadensis leaf extract, tocopherol, theobroma cacao (cocoa) seed butter

Serums

I have been praising Ordinary for a while so why stop now? I have discovered two incredible serums recently that revolutionised my routine. Adding caffeine and Vit C to my routine was simple but effective and the results are in.

The Ordinary Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate Solution 20% in Vitamin F | £15 for 30ml | POST

Hands up who hasn't a bloody clue how to pronounce the name of this one! High concentration of Vit C is difficult to stabilise. In fact, I haven't found a single other serum with such high concentration of Vit C that:
  1. Doesn't make my credit card run away screaming
  2. Doesn't 'roll' on my face after application
I have a couple of Vit C serums and other products and not a single one can be used as a morning serum due to the pesky No.2 reason! Enter this light dry oil formula of This high concentration oil-stabilised Vit C is very watery and sinks in almost instantly. It's actually hard to apply as once applied to the hands, it starts to sink in. What I do is to add around half of the pipette to a few drops of hyaluronic acid serum, mix together and then apply to face, neck and décolleté. Vitamin C works not only brightens but can also improve upon any pigmentation and prevent any new. I love using it in the morning as it gives that extra something to my regular hyaluronic acid serum. I let it rest for a minute or two before applying a moisturiser. Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate is one of the newest Vitamin C derivative to hit the cosmetics lately. This hero component is known to have a whitening effect, works as a powerful antioxidant and helps prevent cellular ageing. If you're looking for a great and affordable way to introduce Vit C to your routine without annoying side effects of formula practically rolling off your face, then give Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate Solution a go

Ingredients: Coconut Alkanes, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, Ethyl Linoleate, Coco-Caprylate/Caprate, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Solanum Lycopersicum (Tomato) Fruit Extract, Squalane.

The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG | £6 for 30ml

Another wonder product from Deciem introduced caffeine extract to my daily routine. Caffeine is known for it's brightening and exfoliating properties but did you know you can apply these to your under eye routine. Forget simple eye cream, we're going in with the serum first. Caffeine is responsible for reducing puffiness but also as actively fighting discoloration under your eyes. This product will not only fight your swelling but will reduce dark circles in the long run. I've been using it for more than a month now and the results are there. Given my hectic schedule, my eyes don't show how tired I truly am! I use it twice daily, morning and night under the eye cream. I apply 2-3 drops to the under eyes and the same amount to my lids. Will this help keeping my hooded eyes at bay with its lifting capabilities is still debatable but given how well it works already, I'm very hopeful! EGCG is derived from green tea is known for its anti-inflammatory properties and it's proven to re-active dying skin cells. This sounds like an incredible claim to make and I won't be able to truly comment on that. I feel the formula works well for me, keeps my under eyes hydrated and sinks in quickly making it a dream to work with in the morning. Again I live it to fully sink in before following with eye cream.

Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Caffeine, Propanediol, Glycerin, Maltodextrin, Epigallocatechin Gallate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Seed Extract, Urea, Tocophersolan, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Poloxamer 235, Poloxamer 338, Xanthan Gum, Lactic Acid, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Butylene Glycol, Ethoxydiglycol, Phenoxyethanol, Chlorphenesin.

Moisturisers

Mokosh Green Tea Corrective Eye Cream* | £34 for 30ml | POST

Here shown is 5ml sample but the full size comes with the whooping 30ml, which is double your usual eye cream. The formula is super light, yet feels rich somehow. The light buttery cream glides on the skin and sinks in easily leaving the eye area nourished and moisturised. I find that using it morning and night made my under eyes appear more rested as well as ensuring concealer goes on well and my eyes appear moisturised throughout the day. It's got an incredible ray of active ingredients which work together to reduce puffiness and fight dark circles (caffeine). also present is green tea extract with strong antioxidant properties, it protects the delicate skin from UV radiation. Oils such as sesame, argan and coconut work together to moisturise and regenerate the delicate skin around your eyes whilst mineral mica powder gently brightens the are for that rested look! I am in love with the formula and the light scent the product offers. I definitely found an ultimate favourite here!

Mokosh Fig Smoothing Anti-Ageing Facial Cream* | £36.00 for 60ml

Another firm favourite from the new to me brand Mokosh. Brand originated in Poland and with certified organic ingredients and vegan-friendly formulas, it became a staple for many Polish bloggers. Now available in the UK thanks to yours truly ( a bit of self-promotion here LOL!!). I must admit I firstly fell in love with the packaging. Shown here are the tester samples but the products come in dark glass, luxury packaging. The formula of Fig Cream is light again, but also rich. It sinks in well, works both evening and morning but what I love about it is how little you need to cover the face, neck and décolletage. Yes, it's definitely not the cheapest and sits well in the medium price point, but you get a quality of active ingredients such as Antiphlogistic Exotic Baobab Oil which rejuvenates the top layers of your skin epidermis and Jojoba Oil which not only softens but also has strong regenerative properties. Also enriched with extracts from fig, flax seed and Aquaxyl which are soothing, smoothing and help hydrate and firm your skin. I found that with using this cream both morning and night my skin felt super smooth and nourished. I love how moisturising it is but also how soothing it is on my often irritated skin.

Ingredients (INCI): Aqua, Coco-Caprylate Caprate**, Macadamia Ternifolia Oil*, Polyglyceryl-3 Dici-trate/Stearate**, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil*, Isostearyl Isostearate, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis ( Sweet Almond) Oil*, Glycerin**, Glyceryl Stearate, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil*, Adansonia Dig-itata Seed Oil*, Stearyl Alcohol, Cellulose, Xylitylglucoside**, Xanthan Gum, Anhydroxylitol**, Xyli-tol**, Ficus Carica (Fig) Fruit Extract*, Gossypium Herbaceum (Cotton) Seed Extract*, Linum Usitatis-simum (Linsed) Seed Extract*, Benzyl Alcohol***, Dehydroacetic Acid***, Tocopherol, Benzoic Acid***, Tetrasodium Glutamate Diacetate, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil*, Parfum, Cou-marin, Linalool

Sukin Facial Moisturiser* | £7.49 for 125ml

Similar to Mokosh, Sukin is a natural skincare brand which vows to soften and hydrate even the most sensitive skin. With active ingredients such as aloe vera, horsetail, nettle and burdock, rosehip, wheat germ, jojoba and avocado oil it promises and delivers very soothing and delicate experience. Very lightweight yet creamy formula sinks in well and helps skin regenerate. This drugstore priced skincare range has fascinated me for a while so I was especially happy to have been offered to test it for Naturally Better You online store. I really enjoy using it alongside my Mokosh skincare or on its own. I love the natural light scent and the formula of this moisturiser and I apply it mainly morning all over my face, neck and décolletage. It keeps my dry skin and dehydration at bay and allows for comfort throughout a day. The massive bottle will surely last me forever but thanks to that I use a generous amount. My sensitive skin hasn't reacted to any ingredients either which is a huge plus! Sukin skincare range is free from Nut Free Product. No sodium lauryl sulphate, sodium Laureth sulphate, synthetic fragrances, animal derivatives, harsh detergents, propylene glycol, EDTA, artificial colours, triethanolamine, mineral oils and parabens. I really enjoy using it and it makes me want to try more Sukin skincare for sure! Visit Naturally Better You for more incredible skincare now!

Exfoliators:

The Ordinary AHA 30% BHA 2% Peeling Solution | £6 for 30ml

This 10 minutes exfoliating facial at home has stolen my heart from the first use. I love at home exfoliators with Bravura Lactic and Glycolic Acids 10% leading the way so far. That is until I discovered Ordinary Peeling Solution. I was a little afraid of 30% AHAs concentration at first that now I'm sold on it! From the first use, it has transformed my skin in 10 mins, unlike anything I've ever used. So if you're after ultra brightening treatment and youthful glow, you need it in your life. It does look rather bloody, both in the bottle and applied alike, but it's worth a little cringe for sure! An addition of BHAs also means this is brilliant for combination and more oily types as BHAs, in general, penetrate and cleanse pores more effectively than AHAs. With 30% Alpha Hydroxyl Acids (Glycolic/Lactic/Tartaric/Citric), 2% Beta Hydroxyl Acid (Salicylic Acid), Hyaluronic Acid Crosspolymer, Vitamin B5, Black Carrot and Tasmanian Pepperberry I found my skin to glow like crazy only after first use and now I just can't get enough. I'll be using it once weekly if not once fortnightly as I don't think my skin yet needs this level of exfoliation too often. I'll still go with my 10% AHAs at least once a week and leave this treatment more for special occasions or when my skin experience any reactions to multiple products I usually test! As with most Ordinary, this is so cheap and cheerful and  I cannot recommend enough that you take the plunge and treat yourself and your skin to this amazing facial in a bottle!

Ingredients: Glycolic Acid, Aqua (Water), Arginine, Propanediol, Cocamidopropyl Dimethylamine, Triethanolamine, Salicylic Acid, Aminomethyl Propanol, Lactic Acid, Tartaric Acid, Citric Acid, Panthenol, Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer, Tasmannia Lanceolata Fruit/Leaf Extract, Daucus Carota Sativa Extract, Glycerin, Pentylene Glycol, Polysorbate 20, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Ethylhexylglycerin, 1,2-Hexanediol, Caprylyl Glycol.

Masks:

Origins Drink-Up Intensive Overnight Mask | £25 for 100ml

This is the first mask from Origins I've tried and why, oh why did I wait so long? The formula has a fruity scent to it and it's a true joy to apply. The scent lingers for a while too and sometimes it's just there out of nowhere. The mask sinks in but not fully and creates a protective barrier like film on the skin. I use it overnight ad recommend it and wake up to glowing and ultra hydrated skin. I like using it at least once a week and definitely a day after any exfoliating treatments. It nourishes and soothes my skin, whilst providing me with spa like experience due to the beautiful lingering scent. The tube is massive and I use a fair amount every time. Apricot Kernel Oil and Avocado oils work together to deeply moisturise the skin whilst Japanese Seaweed regenerates and helps repair to prevent dehydration and premature ageing. I wake up with youthful and glowing skin and that's what I like to see after an overnight treatment.

  2. I never had issues with puffy eyes until recently, must be hayfever. Caffeine really works great, I had something when my daughter was very little, so I am adding the The Ordinary serum to my list.

  17. I've been loving the Ordinary products too, although I didn't find the Caffeine one quite as effective on my eye bags as I liked. Probably because it's an ageing problem rather than a sleep! But on the lids, it worked great! I use their other Vitamin C cream and I agree this isn't one for the morning, but it's still a great product! The peeling solution is on my wish list next. Xx
