MY BEAUTY PICKS AUGUST 2016

August has seen me going on holidays (I miss you Valencia!) and back at work in the full time capacity. It's also seen me turning 31 and being out and about every single weekend celebrating mine and friends birthdays :) It's been a super busy month, both in my private and work life, so I took a bit of a blogging break to help me cope with increased social and work activities. I hope you haven't given up on me yet, seeing as I've posted once a week only. I hope not, as I come back a little more rested and with plentiful of fresh ideas. I have so much to show you in terms of faves this month, so without a further ado, let's get on with it, shall we?

I have quite a bit of skincare loves this month and I think we'll start here. First up a huge shout out to Bioderma Moisturing Anti-UV Mist, which I re-purchased already in time for my trip to Spain. It's such a great novelty and I hope more brands will come up with their versions. It's basically a face mist, that's truly moisturising and also give you a great UV protection. I'm obsessed with SPF, especially in summer months, as my super pale complexion just can't handle the sun very well. I love this stuff. Finally you can up your SPF during a day and over your makeup! It's also reasonably priced at £8.00 and you can get it in Boots

Next up will be my post sun (and not only) treat that is Unani Dermo Defence Face Mask. I discovered it in one of the beauty boxes and having read it has a great, ultra moisturising properties, that help combat environment changes to the skin, I thought taking it with me on holidays to be a great idea. I scooped a little to a tiny pot and I don't regret taking it with me. It really is super hydrating and I used it in the evenings after the days in the sun. It helped to clear my suddenly more oily than dry skin (thanks to the heat I suppose) as well as being deeply nourishing. It's perfect for sensitive skin and it helped to soothe it after sunbathing. Let me know if you'd like a full review on this mask, as I'm quite impressed with it. Available here.

I probably mentioned it once or twice before, but I'm a double cleanse enthusiast freak. Recently I discovered a great new range at Boots and this cleansing oil has honestly changed my life. Is it better than my usual coconut oil? Probably not, but the scent... I mean the full on citrus scent is just pure heaven :) Superfacialist by Una Brennan Vitamin C+ Skin Renew Cleansing Oil (ON OFFER £7.33 from £10.99 in Boots now) is pure genius. Not only does it smell amazing, it removes all makeup quickly and leaves the skin radiant and hydrated. It actually feels like getting a nice facial and results, even after first use are astonishing. Definitely recommend you give it a try, especially as it's on offer now.

Lancome Energie de Vie Pearly Wake-up Lotion is something I discovered only a month ago or so in the great Lancome Energie de Vie Try Me Kit (£20.00 available now at Boots). It's basically an essence to be used in the mornings before your moisturiser. I take around 5 drops and pat it on my skin before my serum. It gives an extra level of moisture but also really wakes up my skin. It's crazy, but if I have a proper insomnia-tastic night and my skin looks dull and tired, this little gem truly works at soothing and taking the whole swollen look down. plus the scent of the whole series is to die for. Love from the first use.

During my holidays my feet have been hit pretty badly by all the walking. One day, they were so bad, I had tears in my eyes. They were swollen and I couldn't take a step without moaning in pain. It was pretty bad. On my visit to Sephora a lovely sales assistant recommended the Sephora Lavender Foot Mask (RPR 3.95 Euro). This is by far THE BEST FOOT MASK I've ever used. Not only does it relax and soothe tired feet, it's super refreshing and deeply moisturising. My feet felt and looked AMAZING afterwards. It's recommended to be used for 20 mins but I put them on for an hour. If you keep it in the fridge overnight as well - it makes all the difference too. Brilliant buy, so I went back and bought couple more lol.

Scent of the month must be my recent '40 mins in the queue during a Zara sale' purchase - Zara Oriental. I mentioned it before in the Summer Lovin' tag (Click here to check it out) and I honestly can't get enough. It's super cheap and it smells fruity and flowery and sweet and girly... It's just everything. One small con is the lasting power, but you can't ask for a lot given it was less that a fiver. I adore this scent so much, I actually bought a mini travel spray bottle so I can have it with me all the time lol. Buy here.

Continuing on how scents affect me is my another budget buy from Primark. Stay Sweet Strawberry & Peach Scented Candle (£3.00) smells incredible. I love sweet candle scents, especially in summer months and this candle gives me life. Plus just look at this gorgeous design with a kitty. In love!

Time to talk a little about makeup, am I right? I loved so many bits this month but what won August for me is definitely Jeffree Star Beauty Killer Palette! It's available directly from Beauty Bay and constantly in stock so get yours now! It's bloody incredible. Say whatever you want about Jeffree Star, whom I love btw, but his cosmetics line is pure quality! The shades seem quite unwearable, yet I've used it pretty much every day in August. It flew with me to Spain, it sorted my daily work makeup needs as well as my birthday makeup. I can't praise it enough and if you'd like to see more of it, check out my full review HERE.

Not too long ago I was contacted by a lovely Roksana, who's a distributor of Eco-Cosmetics 4U and I was sent few products to test out*. I was quite worried about the Bamboo Silk Powder as it's not recommended for dry skin. However with my skin experiencing a bit of craziness recently, what a life saver it was. It's very finely milled natural powder and an alternative to mineral powders. It's perfect for setting up makeup, especially in t-zone, so if you have combination or oily skin, or your skin decides to go crazy because of the heat, this one's for you. I'm not in love with the packaging, as it's quite on a cheap side but the powder itself is brilliant. Bamboo Powder isn't comodenic so it won't block up your pores and surprisingly it gives the skin a bit of a blurring effect. It can slightly whiten your skin, so I'll recommend it for pale skin tones. You can mix it with pigments as a powder base to make it more appropriate for your skin tone. It's available here for £4.99.

Having had zero luck with mascaras recently, it comes as a total surprise to me and probably you as well, that I have two mascaras to show you this month. I bought a sample of cult Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara in Sephora and I am in love with it. It gives me volume as well as superb lash separation - it's uncanny ! Definitely buying full size when I'm done with the deluxe sample. Click here to buy from Debenhams. And the drugstore mascara of the month is the Maybelline Lash Sensational Luscious. I loved the original version so I had to try the new one, as it's infused with oils. It gives you an incredible volume. It's slightly more on the clumpy side that Too Faced but honestly great anyway! Click to buy here.

Lipstick wise I've been into a lot of nudes and muted tones especially recently. Sephora Matte Lip Creme in 05 is a gorgeous liquid lipstick that despite the claim of being matte, has almost metallic finish to it. I really love it as a daytime colour and it stays put for good 3-4 hours. NYX Lingerie in Baby Doll is my newest purchase in the series and I finally discovered a nude that's light enough for my complexion. I love pairing it with MAC stone for the Kylie lip look. Buy here. Lastly NYX Matte Lipstick in Tea Rose is a great muted medium pink with mauve tones. It gives semi matte finish, lasts 2-3 hours and it's super comfortable to wear. Ideal work lip. Buy here

Lastly a little shoutout to the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray. What I would do without it in those heat infused days??? It keeps makeup put for longer, takes away the powdery look and it's been a life saver during my holidays and every day life when temperatures hit 25 Celsius plus. Click here to buy.

SEPHORA HAUL FEAT. TONY MOLY, TOO FACED, KAT VON D AND MORE

As I write this, it's a typical British Summer morning. The temperatures went down to around 19 degrees, it's super humid and it's raining. However it's also Friday and I'll be damned, if a little rain would make me miserable on the last day of the week.

I came back from Spain last week and it's been an adjustment for sure. The weather, the food, work... However I managed to snatch a lot of goodies from my trip to Sephora and today I'd like to share with you my first ever Sephora haul! Excited yet? Let's dig in shall we?

I'm obsessed with makeup, so my haul should be full of makeup bits and sadly (or gladly! My vanity can't take more!) it is not. I stood by the Kat Von D counter for a good hour swatching and aaahing and oohhhing and I came out nearly empty. I did, however managed to snatch a liquid lipstick mini duo set. KvD Everlasting Duo Set consist of two mini shades of Melancholia and Susperia. I'm still testing these babies, so I'll leave my opinion for later but it's perfect for creating those in season ombré lip ;) it was 14.95€ and a great trial pick, before I'll commit to full size bits. I didn't pick up any of the palettes simply because none really spoke to me when swatched! I may have finally reached my palette potential or they simply weren't good enough for the price? I'll check them out again when KvD comes to Debenhams this fall & make my decision then :)

I had to pick up at least one of the Sephora Matte Lip Creams and mine is in highly recommended to me shade 05 Infinite Rose. It's such a beautiful shade. Stays on well and sets on the lips but it is in no way a matte finish. It has a slight metallic finish to it! Definitely a love from a first wear! These are 12.95€ each.

Lastly makeup wise, I picked up a mini (thanks to Sephora gods for minis counter, am I right?) of Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara. I love the packaging. I love the name. I love the formula. I love everything about it! A must have full size purchase! RPR 9.95€

Natural light swatches: Infinite Rose, Melancholia, Susperia (with flash)

Natural light swatches: Infinite Rose, Melancholia, Susperia (no flash)
Sheet mask phenomen is where I went slightly overboard with my purchases. I heard of Tony Moly Korean skincare brand forever and wanting to pick up the cute Panda like Sleeping Mask! Thankfully they had it in stock! I am yet to properly test it, but first impressions are really positive! If you suffer with dry, mature or dehydrated skin, this mask can be your new holy grail! 13.95€

I started off with the sheet mask craze and ended up talking to you about another mask, typical lol! From Tony Moly I also picked up a ridiculous amount of sheet masks simply because I've heard they're awesome and they're only 1.50€ a pop! I picked up multiples of Tomato Radiance, Aloe Moisturising and Avocado Nutrition! Also picked up a little pressie for mom's upcoming birthday and chose Age Defying Snail Hydro-Gel Sheet Mask, which was 6.95€ and I have high hopes for it!

Sadly this is not where sheet mask craze ends as I had to (HAD TO!) pick few of the Sephora branded ones and opted for Orchid (anti-age) and Lotus (moisturising & soothing) face masks. I also picked up few treats for our feet with Lavender (soothing) and Almond (repairing) foot masks! These were 3.95€ each.

This concludes my sweet and short Sephora haul ;) I would have picked up a lot more, if I didn't travel with hand luggage only! I was so tempted by a lot more skincare but sadly I just didn't have the space or they were over 100ml limit! Until next time Sephora <3

What do you think of the bits I picked up? Is there any you see yourself using or maybe you have already? Let me know in the comments section below and don't forget to subscribe <3

TOP 5 HIGH END MAKEUP COLLAB WITH NISHI.V

It's always a special day when Nishi V and I come together to bring you a new collaboration. Today we prepared a part two to our latest collab. If you missed what we've been up to lately, click here to check out what Drugstore must haves we recommend. Today we're going on the opposite end of the scale and bringing you our Creme Brûlée of High End makeup :)

Nishi.V is a London based blogger and Youtuber. She's as obsessed with social media as I am, so you can follow her everywhere now: Bloglovin'YoutubeInstagramFacebookSnapchat.

When it comes to high end pieces, the main factor should be superb quality & uniqueness of the products. Today I'm showing you a great mixture of old and new. Let's begin shall we?

Every makeup should start with a great base and my favourite for a long while now (finishing up second tube now!) has been Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue. It's not a tinted moisturiser and it's not a BB cream. It gives the most natural light coverage and looks super natural and glowing. If you're skin is dry or combination, even mature this gem will bring out the best in your complexion. I honestly can't recommend it enough. Mine's in the lightest shade. Opal is a neutral to pink toned porcelain. It looks beautiful on my pale complexion. The coverage is light, however if applied with a fluffy flat top you can build it up to light-medium. If you're after coverage you can apply concealer on top and it works beautifully with most concealers. I feel the formula to be super hydrating and if set with a powder, the lasting power can be up to 8+ hours. Available in John Lewis for £26.00

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit is probably one of met most treasured purchases. I was gifted it by a friend late last year and it's been an absolute pleasure to work with. Yes, it's pricey (£65.00)and rarely available at present (although the stock appears at Space Nk from time to time), but this palette is truly extra special. Beautiful packaging boasts 6 medium sized pans. Everything from setting powders, through highlight, blush and bronzer can be found in this surprisingly travel friendly option. There's something about Hourglass powder formulas. They don't seem that amazing to touch, yet on the skin they transform your complexion. Definite must have if you can get your hands on it.

There can't be a top 5 where I don't mention highlighter. Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Pearl has revolutionised the strobing needs for pale skinned. It's a truly white highlight with pearl sheen. It's not silver or pink, it's quite amazing. If you're pale and proud, but can never find a highlighter that truly suits you, try Pearl. For me it was a love from the first application and my most used highlighter to date. You can go lightly or you can go for the wow effect. The formula, the lasting power and the shade itself, makes it a one of the kind in the strobing game! Available here for £32.00

Something Nishi and I have in common is our love for great quality shadows, so the choice was pretty simple. The newest launch from Anastasia Beverly Hills has stolen both of hour hearts and rightly so. Modern Rennaisance is a stunning selection of mostly warm toned shades. The formula is truly something else. Super buttery and soft too touch. Yes, a little dusty in the pan but no fallout on the yes. These shades practically blend themselves. Mostly matte but with some incredible highlight shades make this palette an incredible choice. I can't recommend it enough. Worth every penny. It's currently sold out everywhere but watch this space on Beauty Bay.

Last but certainly not least is the incredible matte lipstick formula from Estee Lauder. Yes, they're pricey and will set you back by £25.50 a pop, but man do they just work. Pure Colour Envy Matte Sculpting Lipstick in Kendall shade has been my favourite since it launched last year. It a perfect combination of red and orange. The formula lasts ages, it's comfortable to wear and did I mention the shade? Simply stunning !! I love wearing it as a statement daytime shade and it'll compliment a smokey eye at night. I'm tempted by more shades, but I don't think my lipstick collection can hold any more. It was however a limited edition, so I'm sorry about that, but I can definitely recommend the formula, if you'd like a great matte luxury lipstick. Available here.

I hope you enjoyed my top 5 luxury makeup and I would love for your to check out Nishi's post HERE. Go and show my girl some love !!! <3

PAINT ME A RAINBOW - COLOURFUL SUMMER EVENING GLAM FOR HOODED EYES

Hello my lovelies :) I am officially back from my holidays and it's been such a blast. The sun, the food, the Sephora - ah Spain I'll be back and soon :) Today I'd like to share with you the look I created using my new favourite - Jeffree Star Beauty Killer palette (again thanks to my lovely Monica for the American beauty goods - check out our hauls here). This is the only palette I took with me abroad as it really covers all the bases. Daytime makeup? Check. Evening glamour? Check. Crazy colours? Check. As my birthday is coming up, I wanted to create not only an evening look but also something fun and full of colours. And this happened...

Base:

Nivea Post Shave Balm as a primer
L'Oreal True Match Foundation in Rose Ivory
Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer to correct and for reverse conturing
Nars Orgasm blusher
Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Pearl to highlight

Brows:

Anastasia Beverly Hills DipBrow Pomade in Taupe for the arch
Benefit Gimme Brow for the brow fronts

Lips:

Too Faced Melted Liquified Lipstick in Melted Fuchsia for colour
Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil as a gloss

Eyes:

MAC Paint Pot in Painterly as a primer
Jeffrey Star Beauty Killer Palette (click here for review + swatches)
NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk
Urban Decay Perversion Mascara
Red Cherry Lashes (total and utter fail - they look terrible on pictures - sorry about that ladies!!!)

Playtime:

I started off by setting the primer with China White which is a super pigmented off white matte. For my "crease" (fake crease for hooded eyes - area above your natural crease which is covered by the hood of the eyes) I used Courtney on a fluffy blending brush and created the transition for the rest of the shades. I started off with Vanity in the outer corner to create the depth to the eye. I blended it towards the crease. I added the colour couple of times and blended it, all with fluffy brush as these shadows are pigmented as hell! I added a little of Black Rainbow in the very outer corners to intensify the effect. For the mid lid I applied Expensive which is such a beautiful blue/green/turquoise  shade with some glitter to it. I used a flat synthetic brush but you can intensify it even further by applying it with your finger or even wet. I blended the shade into the charcoal Vanity. For the inner corners I used the superb gold Rich Bitch, blended it into Expensive and added a bit of Princess in the very inner corners for highlight.
For the bottom lid I used Vanity all over with a small fluffy blending brush and just a tad of Black Rainbow in the very outer corners. Again I added a little of Rich Bitch to the inner corners to close the bottom& top lid.
I lined my waterline with NYX Milk and applied the extreme matte pink Star Power on top (you didn't really think I'd skip the pink now did you? lol)
For my mascara I used my trusty favourite Urban Decay Perversion and finished the look with some lashes. These are the worst lashes I've ever used and obviously not great looking unless you go with a strong liner on the top lid. I apologise for how these look in the photos :(

I hope you enjoy the finished look. If you plan on recreating it, please tag me in your photos on Instagram, Twitter and all over and use my hashtag #idorottka :) I always look forward to your snaps so don't forget to follow me on Snapchat <3 Just search: i.dorottka

Watch out for special announcement coming your way this Sunday :) It's my birthday and I want you all to celebrate with me so keep your eyes peeled on my socials <3
