IDOROTTKA LOVES: MY BEAUTY PICKS OF JUNE 2016

June has blessed us with few sunny days and the whole country rejoiced :) Unfortunately it didn't last very long, but despite the fact it's quite gloomy, the temperatures have been in mid double digits so at least we're not freezing our skinny backsides off ;) June has also been a month of discoveries, little shopping and most definitely skincare. I had more than usual 'no makeup' days and concentrated on skincare only. Don't worry, I didn't forget to wear makeup all the time and I have few faves for you on the ready. So put your feat up, make yourself an iced green tea (I'm on a healthy streak ok???) and let's see what I've been loving in June.

MAKEUP:

In June I mostly opted in for light bases and Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue in Opal has been my favourite forever now. It's super light, it has a lovely light coverage that's build able to light medium if applied with fluffy flat top. It's boosting SPF30 which is always a plus on sunny days. I adore this formula, the most easy going there is. My under eyes continued to be a nightmare with dark circles reaching my jaw. A little exaggeration perhaps, but Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer have been a trusted friend in June. It's lightweight, ultra light and boosts great coverage. I have been loving it recently and it truly deserves a place in favourites, as if I was wearing makeup, I had it on.

Despite the lighter base I never skipped on light contouring and highlight so my cheeks were always on fleek;) My new favourite contour lately has been NYX Ultra Blush HD in Taupe. It's a lovely cool toned bronzer, perfect for pale faces. It's quite pigmented so light hand is advised, but it also blends beautifully, so I don't envision it being a problem even if you over do it. Next up - the blush of the month title goes to.... Clinique Cheek Pop/Blush Pop in Feather Pop is a blogger must have. The flower design is so beautiful to photograph. I like the formula as it's not too pigmented and it gives my cheeks a nice flush of colour without being to overpowering. It's a cool toned mauve pink so it will suit any daytime makeup be that little smokey or all natural. Last, but certainly not least is the highlight. I've been obsessed with highlights and could easily talk about three or four, but in June I mainly went for good old MAC Soft & Gentle. It's a beautiful champagne highlighter and you can go as subtle and as out there as you wish. For subtle effect I recommend a duo fiber brush, but I'm far from a subtle lover. I go full on and lately it's all thanks to one brush, which I will talk about in the minute.

I have been loving the new edition to my eyeshadow palette family that is my Morphe 35B palette. The only matte palette you'll ever need. It's got such a spectrum of shades from few neutrals (mainly warm) to the whole rainbow of colours. The pigmentation is insane, it costs £15.95, blends beautifully and it has been my go to palette this month. I created many looks with it and you can check my Instagram to see why I LOVE IT!!!

I am intrigues by pale taupe shades on my lips and my faves in the last month truly show my affliction. MAC Poesia by Chris Chang in Plum Princess is a gorgeous pale purple/taupe shade. It's matte, it stays put and it gives me 'straight out of coroners office' look lol. Joking aside, I really love it and I'm glad I was able to snatch this limited edition gem. The packaging is to die for and it has a favourite spot on my vanity. Golden Rose Longstay Liquid Matte Lipstick in 10 is a beautiful ghostly shade of a super ashy mauve. I like the formula as it's not super drying and it stays put for at least 4 hours. Considering the price (around £4.00) it's truly remarkable. I now own one more shade in this collection and you guys have been loving it on Snapchat. I truly recommend it if you can get your hands on it in UK (eBay is your best bet). Wearing mattes has it's toll on the lips so I've been giving them a lot of loving in the evening by layering them up with Lanolips 101 Ointment. Its Ultra Pure Grade Lanolin works so well on dry lips and I'm sure this isn't my last tube. I'll be repurchasing this balm for sure, as it's the best there is for lip treatment.

SKINCARE:

It comes as no surprise to those following me for a while that I love a good cleansing and I came across a luxury sample of MOA The Green Balm. It's superb. I opened this 15 ml sample 3 weeks ago and used it every other day and I used maybe a third (if that). It leaves my skin cleansed, soothed and somehow plumped. It's super moisturising and I find it works best at night when you get a little more time to yourself and can really massage the product in the skin. I remove it with hot towel. Honestly can't recommend it enough. Great product and I may be buying it full size, who knows.

Hylamide Glow Radiance Booster combines the work of a serum and a delicate gradual tanner thanks to the melatonin building active ingredients. It won't give you a tan but it gives my skin such natural glow without compromising on less than perfect ingredient list old your usual self tanner. I'm totally sold on this ! I'm looking forward to trying more of Hylamide products as this one has one me over with one application.

I talked about Ecolab Revitalising Toner already in the favourites and couple of other posts, but in June I found a new way off application to be my absolute fave if I have some extra time in the morning before having to get ready. I soak the condensed sheet mask with it and wear as a mask for 20-30 mins. It's so refreshing! I've been loving it on those humid days we all experienced in June. And to continue on the subject of sheet masks I have discovered a new one from Holika Holika (£4.99 for 5 in TKMaxx). Juicy Mask Sheet Honey is quite something if you like to refresh your skin whilst packing it with moisture and hydration. It's really nourishing and it's quite safe on sensitive skin so a total winner in my eyes. Definitely recommend it for those who are battling dehydration lines.

The last mask of the month is Lush Oatifix. It's the best smelling mask ever as it's super sweet scented. I love it. It's nourishing and you can feel how moisturising it is as it hydrates the skin for absolute ages. Great moisture pick me up in the morning if you have a spare minute or for a home spa day. I love it and I will definitely repurchase. The only minus is the application as it's quite thick with lots of oats and you need to really work it in the skin so it sticks to it.

ACCESSORIES:

There can't be a month without a favourite brush. This time it's my highlighter Holy Grail that is the Real Techniques Bold Metals 300 (Blush Brush). Not only is it a stunner with the beautiful rose gold handle but also a rea pleasure to work with as the weighted end makes the handling something else. The bristles are well cut and super soft and it applies highlighter like a bomb. Forget subtle effect, it won't do it, but if you like to highlight like Jaclyn or Nikki this brush will do that for you. Amazing. Simply brilliant.

Condensed sheet masks from eBay must have a mention in the favourites as they're really great. If you like Toner based masks or are a pro in formulating the liquid for DIY sheet masks, then these are for you. All you have to do it soak those in enough liquid and unfold. The cut isn;t perfect but it's fine for a home use. They're super cheap (around £2 for pack of 30) so no bank needs to be robbed and it's definitely a cheaper alternative to store bought sheet masks as they can get pricey.

Love

BEAUTY EMPTIES 2016 #3 WITH MINI REVIEWS FEAT. BEAUTY BLENDER, LUSH AND MORE

Happy Monday everyone :) I hope you had a great weekend. I spent mine clearing up my vanity and bathroom shelves from all the empties I recently accumulated. And it's quite a bit if I can say so myself ;) So make yourself a cuppa and let's dig in, shall we?

SKINCARE:

It's with a heavy heart I say goodbye to Naobay Calming Face Toner (full review here). It made me fall in love with toning my skin all over again and being super delicate it worked amazing for my super sensitive skin, really soothing it after cleansing. Would I repurchase? Definitely!

Odylique Timeless Rose Moisturiser hasn't been my favourite as I really don't enjoy the rose scented products, especially not those with such overpowering scent. However with active ingredients like Rose, Reship, Sea Buckthorn, Aloe Vera, Jojoba and Coconut it was to do to just dump, so I used it up as my neck moisturiser. Would I repurchase? Despite it being a great moisturiser, I would not buy it again because of the scent.

Lush The Sacred Truth Mask has been my hero face mask (review here). I loved the scent, the formula and most importantly the results. It left my skin soft and smooth and it was a great pick me up for a monday or an evening mask. Would I repurchase? Definitely yes, I loved using it.

The Creme Shop Collagen Face Mask (pack of 5) is a great sheet mask. It left my skin smooth and nourished. Perfect for warm evenings as it refreshes the skin. Would I repurchase? I already have :)

HAIRCARE:

I really loved Garnier Ultimate Blends Shampoo with Avocado Oil & Shea butter. It's really reasonably priced and a great all round shampoo. It cleansed my hair well, only a little was needed for a single wash. Would I repurchase? Yes, I already have a back up.

MAKEUP:

It's all about the blushes in this one as I'm getting rid of quite a few. Not because I hit the pan, but because they're either out of date or gone bad... Bourjois 12H Aqua Blush in Pink Twice and Ingé-nude have been my faves the last summer. The formula was brilliant as they stayed on all day and gave only a flush of colour to the cheeks, without being too overbearing. Unfortunately despite the packaging with the pump the product dried up within 3-5 months and I was going to rid of it ages ago, but forgot. Would I repurchase? No.

The next two blushes I had for so long they are definitely out of date so it's time to say our goodbyes. Maybelline Dream Touch Blush in 06 was a neutral pink with satin finish. It stays put for hours, but I didn't like the pot packaging as it's hard to take the product out with a finger (if you have long nails) or with a brush as it takes way too much product on. Second is a Glossybox own branded blush in Glossy Rosewood. It's a really pretty mauve pink with little pigmentation which actually is in four of any blusher. Perfect for those with pale complexions. Would I repurchase: I have so many blushes in my collection, so it's a no this time.

I used up 3 mascaras, which is a norm for me, as I normally have 2-3 of them on the go at all times. I absolutely loved both Maybelline The Falsies in Black Drama and Max Factor Velvet Volume False Lash Effect Mascara. They were both super volumising and never crumbled on me. No panda eyes with them two. Would I repurchase? If I wasn't in full on testing mascara mood, I would definitely repurchase them both. The third mascara was Collection Lengthening Mascara and I have a bit of meh relationship with it. It just doesn't do much to my lashes. It had a very dry formula, which I normally like, but the product was hard to show on the lashes. Would I repurchase? It's a no from me.

ACCESSORIES:

It's time to say my goodbyes to my two favourite beauty sponges: the original Beauty Blender and Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge. These two win the sponge game in my eye with a slight preference to Beauty Blender as it's truly unique! Would I repurchase? I already have :)

After 20 or more wears I'm finally saying goodbye to Tanya Burr Everyday Flutter Lashes. These corner lashes have served me well and are such great quality despite being really affordable, so if you're looking for an easy, every day style, these are for you. Would I repurchase? Yes.

DAYTIME EYE WITH A TOUCH OF PEACH FOR SUMMER FEAT MAKEUP REVOLUTION CHOCOLATE VICE

Happy Friday my lovelies. Where summer weather got you short, I come with a little bit of daytime inspiration. Peach is the colour of 2016 and my personal favourite, but I tend to overuse it. But if you like to add a little peachy detail to your eye without going full on peach glam, today's proposition may be for you <3

Base and finish:

Revlon ColorStay for Dry/Normal Skin mixed with a drop of Body Shop Oils for Life Oil
Lush Emotional Brilliance Transparent Powder
Kobo Bronzer in Sahara Sand
Bare Minerals Ready Blush in The French Kiss
Makeup Revolution Pro Illuminate Highlighter

Brows & Lips:

Freedom Makeup Brow Pomade in Taupe
MAC Poesia x Chris Chang in Plum Princess (mid lip)
MAC Vibe Tribe in Hot Chocolate (all over lip)
Too Faced Melted in Melted Fuchsia (just a little mixed with all above colours)

Eyes:

MAC Paint Pot in Painterly
Clinique Quickliner in Black
Clinique High Impact Mascara in Black
Makeup Revolution Chocolate Vice Palette

Playtime:

I set my primer with a mix of Sway and Appeal. I created a fake crease (placing transition shade above your natural crease for hooded eyes) by blending Convert and Need, and lightly adding them to the outer corner. Once I was satisfied with the depth created, I started adding a darker shade (Treat) to the outer corners and blending it towards the mid lid and in the crease. On mid lid and blending it towards the inner corner I added a beautiful light champagne shade Satisfy and adding a little Require. Satisfy also landed on the inner corners mixed with Vice to open up the eye even more. I then added a little eyeliner to the upper lash line and blended it with Treat.
For the bottom lash line I used Must in the mid blending it towards the inner corner and Fancy in the outer corner blended towards the mid lid.
I finished the eye with two coats of the mascara.

I hope you enjoyed the finished look. As usual let me know what types of looks, you'd like to see from me in the future :) Have a lovely weekend my beauties, have fun & stay safe <3

MORNING SKINCARE ROUTINE FOR DRY & SENSITIVE SKIN (30 PLUS)

As our skin ages it's very important to update your skincare routine to suit the individual need. I've always had dry skin, it was more combination to dry when I was younger, but the older  get the drier my skin becomes. I love discovering new skincare and lately I have come across some absolutely amazing gems that I couldn't wait to share with you :) Fasten your seat belts, we'll be here for a while.

Cleansing & toning:

I rarely double cleanse in the morning. I opt in for quick but through cleanse and toner to ensure balancing the skin ph after cleansing. Lately a duo from Ecolab has been my absolute favourites in the morning (full review here). I start with the foam and throughly cleanse my skin and remove any foam residue with lukewarm water. I then tone my skin. I either pat the product on to the skin with the pad, or on the days when I can spend more time on my skincare, I soak the condensed sheet mask with toner and leave it on my face for 20-30 mins. It's super refreshing, especially on warmer days. After removing the sheet mask, I pat the remainder of the product in using my fingers.

Serums & boosters:

I recently discovered a new gem from Hylamide. Booster Glow Serum is packed with melatonin boosting active ingredients, which give your skin a natural glow within 2-3 days. I use it all over my face and neck before the serum. It works brilliantly without being to overpowering. It's a perfect little radiance boost for the palest of us all :) Here's a little about the active ingredients as taken from product description:

Melanin Hexapeptides
A novel first-ever peptide technology to target melanocyte function to encourage a glowing, natural backdrop of radiant colour
Raspberry Keto-Sugar
An ultra-purified keto-sugar that reacts within the skin to produce a natural golden tone within 2-3 days. DHA Free
Oxidized Reactive Glutathione Complex
Superior form of the amino acid L-Glutathione for extremely high stability to even skin pigmentation visibly
Radiance Peptides Complex
Next-generation peptide complex technology to create skin tone confusion for a novel approach to skin radiance
Skin-Binding Glycoprotein
Advanced binding agent optimizes skin exposure to active technologies for a boosted effect

You can buy Hylamide Radiance Booster in Boots now for recused price of £13.33

The second step for me is the serum and recently I've been loving the lightweight formula of Baikal Face Serum. The extract of Baikal plants has been developed to help with loss of natural moisture in the skin. Add on benefits of extracts from Magnolian Tea and Cedar milk promises long-lasting hydrating and the soothing effect on the skin. It's paraben and PEG free for all natural skincare enthusiasts. It's a perfect daytime serum, it's so light it sinks in almost instantly. and provides skin with super hydration. Great under make-up. You can check out & buy Baikal natural skincare here. Prices vary from £4.00-£5.00

Moisturisers & SPF:

The final step in my somewhat extensive routine is to moisture and protect from sun. Talika Photo Hydra Day Cream is a moisturiser of tomorrow. With active substances like hyaluronic acid, lipopeptides and mango butter it deeply hydrates and soothes the skin. The formula uses the energy of natural light to further moisturise and hydrate from within. I rarely believe the big claims like that, but I must admit, this cream is something special. It glides on the skin with its lightweight formula and sinks in almost instantly, so works great under makeup. It's super hydrating without making the skin feel oily. Great all year rounder. You can buy it here

For why under eye area needs I'm still a huge fan of Clinique Pep Start (full review here). I think it moisturises really well and ensures the delicate skin is prepped for any eye makeup afterwards. The applicator massages the product in  without dragging on the skin and it's just such a treat to use in the mornings. I find that it battles why dark circles and puffiness quickly, so it's a definite yes from me. It has been featured in my monthly faves too, as I just love using it. P:bus it lasts for ages, I just it practically ever day and I still have half left. You can buy it here.

SPF50 is something I don't leave the house without slapping a generous amount of on my face and neck. I discovered Eucerin SPF50 Sun Fluid Mattifying only recently and I can't praise it enough. It's been in my favourites twice already! It's an amazing product, great under makeup and alone. If worn under makeup I managed to go a whole day in the sun without burning (given I also wore Missa Full Cover BB Cream SPF42 on top). When worn alone, I find it works best if topped up every couple of hours :) I haven't burn once this year and it's a first for me. I normally stay away from anything claiming to be mattifying, yet this formula just works for me. Absolute gem !!! You can buy it here now.

As you can see, none of these are your typical anti-aging products. I find it best to skip typically used ingredients in those during spring/summer, as they can have a negative effect on the skin, like discolouration. I tend to just concentrate on moisturising and hydrating the skin instead and it's been working well for me this year :) You may find this excessive and maybe it is, but it's what works for my drier than dry skin. All of the above provide a great canvas under makeup too, so I don't have to worry about makeup looking cakey or just plain wrong.

Have you tried any of the above? If so, what are your thoughts? I always love to hear about your skincare faves, so please also share these in  the comments section below :) Thank you for surviving my AM skincare rant and I hope to see you here again <3

Love
