MY BEAUTY PICKS JULY 2016

I am writing these words and still can't believe it! Despite being a 31 day month, July has gone so fast and I'm now welcoming my birthday month - August :) Turning 31 in two weeks doesn't seem very real, but instead of focusing on the impending doom, I am packing for a sunny Valencia and can't wait to be on that plane on Thursday morning. Sephora here I come <3

*I'd like to apologise in advance for the amount of wording in this post. I had a lot of favourites this month, okay? Lol*

SKINCARE:

I'm super pleased to share with you the skincare faves of this month, as none are luxury brands and are easily available in drugstore or online in UK.

First off a huge shoutout to the Superdrug own brand B. with the B. Clean Melting Gel Cleanser being my go to evening cleanser. It's gentle, have literally no scent to it and is proven gentle on my dry and super sensitive skin. B. Confident Hyaluronic Acid Facial Spritz has been a refreshing and hydrating treat in the summer months. I spray it on my face after sincere and before primer for the cooling effect on warm mornings and keep it in my purse throughout the day to refresh my skin. I find it's ok to use under and over makeup and for the price you can't really go wrong.

Next up I must mention the new L'Oreal Clay Masks in Glow and Detox. My skin has been experiencing some heat related turbulences lately and it's close to being more combination than super dry as per usual. My T-Zone experienced oiliness and volcano friends so I battled this with Detox. The mask will last for about 10 uses, so I already purchased a back up. I can't tell you how much I enjoy the effect. My skin is visibly clearer, pores more defined and the smoothness is just unreal given the price of this little gem. I'm a huge believer of multi-masking so Glow was also a greta help with my skin issues. I applied it over my cheekbones and sometimes the forehead (when it didn't need the Detox to clear it). It has little exfoliating particles, which are actually ok for my sensitive skin. Does it work as well as Detox? I'm not sure just yet, but I can see myself using it a little more in Autumn/Winter/Spring when my face gets back to its usual drier than sun self.

To continue on the subject of bad skin and the volcano friends I had 'a pleasure' to meet this month, Sudocream has been an absolute genius at battling them quickly and without drying my skin. It was recommended by a lovely Dagmara from Mummy's Beauty Corner and honestly it just works. Not only that, but I also discovered its truly magic properties, when my feet experienced a little mishap earlier this month. I decided to wear heels on the hottest day of the summer so I could feel blisters growing by a minute. I somehow survived work and the journey back home, but once I got of the bus, I decided enough is enough. I have couple of minutes walk home from the bus stop, so I thought I'll just take the heels off and walk barefoot... What I forgot to consider was the temperature of the side walks... By the time I got home (and I ran), my feet were covered in blisters, in fact they were just one huge blister... I can't describe the pain, it was excruciating. My mom suggested Sudocream and despite the pain still being there for few days, it worked at easing up the pain and healing the burns. Enough said, I have learnt my lesson.

Ecolab has been one of the best discoveries of the whole year. It's a Russian brand specialising in natural, mostly organic skincare. I already talked to you about my love for their Tonic and Foam Cleanser (FULL REVIEW HERE) and today's the day to give a shout out to the two bits I have been loving for the last few months. You can buy all the Ecolab range on The Natural Skincare website, which is ran by a lovely Justyna (FB page here). I can't recommend checking this website enough, if you're into natural skincare and refuse to pay the hefty prices of the 'famous' brands. I love shower oils and Ecolab Caribbean Shower Oil is a true joy, it smells of sweet, almost nutty cream and only a teensy bit is needed to leather your body in a glorious almost foam like formula. It feels so moisturising after you wash it off. Myself and mom have been using it for more than two months and there's still just over a third of the product left, so at £4.30 a pop it's a great alternative to your shower needs.
Summer months mean that a good deodorant is a must and after reading all the scary stories of how my usual stuff can have such harmful effects to my body and health, I decided to switch to a natural deodorant. Don't get me wrong, I was in love from the first use. What better way than to test a deodorant than when temperatures are above 30C and you spend hours on a sweaty, non air con public transport. I can't say I'm overly sweaty in general, so this may not survive the heat for you, but Ecolab Natural Deodorant with Lemon Extract has done an incredible job. I love it!!!

MAKEUP:

I love warm tones. If I had a pound for every time I say that, I'll be rich, as poor as I am today, but with more makeup ;) This month I was blessed with testing two incredible palettes and both ended up in favourites because they're truly THAT good. Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance (FULL REVIEW HERE) is just a dream come through. Gorgeous shades, buttery formula that blends itself... I am in love <3 There are so many great mattes here and so many options to do your daytime or evening looks. In fact I created both (CLICK HERE FOR DAYTIME & HERE FOR EVENING). I can't praise enough, it is worth every penny and it wasn't cheap.
The second palette comes at more reasonable price range. Makeup Revolution I Heart Makeup Chocolate Vice is the latest, although I'm sure not the last, in the series. From the packaging to the shades itself, it's such a well rounded palette. I've created a lovely soft daytime look with it, CLICK HERE. Mattes are better than in the previous offerings, they pigmentation is great and it's just such a pleasure to use. No, it wouldn't beat ABH when it comes to formula but you are paying £8.00 here and not £41 and believe me when I say it, the quality is superb. (REVIEW HERE)
I managed to snatch a copy of Glamour magazine and test out the updated Benefit Gimme Brow. I think it's such a cute little packaging and it's definitely going with me abroad. It keeps brows in place and the shade one, gives that little lightening effect to the front of my brows. I really like it.

When it comes to lips, yet again I've been wearing A LOT of liquid lipsticks, so lip comfort was definitely high on my list of proprieties. I repurchased Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil in Raspberry this time, as I had a Honey version before. It's not the cheapest, but I love everything about it. It's not sticky, it gives my lips the level of hydration it needs plus it smells and tastes incredible :) You can use it on it's own and despite the colour in the packaging it doesn't really transfer to the lips, or on top of your lipstick. You can easily change your favourite matte lip colour to glossy and it doesn't take that much of the staying power either. I'm obsessed :)

There are few liquid lipsticks that deserve a total shoutout this month. Let's start with MUA Luxe Liquid Lips in Zest. This is a new formula and I'm obsessed. At £3.00 a pop, it really gives an amazing opaque matte finish. It takes a minute or so to fully dry and you should only stick to one thin coat to ensure the lasting power. It's lasts around 4 hours on me with a light snacking and drinking and the shade is just gorgeous !!! It's the coral red you need this summer. I did a look recently where I've used it and got so many compliments across al the social media (CHECK IT OUT HERE).
Next up has to be Golden Rose Longstay Liquid Matte Lipstick in 03 which is a gorgeous medium pinky mauve. Perfect for daytime. It stays put for around 4 hours on me (again just light snacking and drinks). The formula is super thin and it doesn't dry out my lips too much. I also enjoy the sweet vanilla like smell.
The third fave is the famous Kylie Cosmetics Metal Matte Lipstick in Heir. I purchased mine at Lustre Cosmetics and avoided all the ridiculous process of ordering directly of Kylie. I'm in no way a Kylie fan in general, but given the hype, I wanted to try what the fuss was all about. I have few more products to test now, so the review is coming, but for now I thought this one definitely deserve the shout out. I really like the peachy gold metallic finish. It looks great on me. The formula is quite thick, given the pigment added to the liquid formula to achieve the metallic finish. It lasts 4-6 hours on me and is super comfy on the lips. Definite fave :)
Lastly in the lips department I wanted to mention Primark PS... Lip Liner Pencil in Nude. These are only a £1.00 and I love the formula. They are creamy but not super creamy. I really like this pinky nude shade and it lasts well on me. After MAC and Rimmel this is my fave lip liner formula to date.

When it comes to face products, July was all about lightweight glow and the products I mention prove just that. Starting with L'Oreal Nude Magique Cushion Foundation which I just love (REVIEW HERE). It's a light coverage and super light formula which works great in the summer months. I love how compact it is and you can just leave it in your makeup bag and top up, if needed throughout the day. It's quite expensive, given it's drugstore and I'm not sure if I would repurchase but for now, I'm really loving the finish it gives my skin.
I was lucky enough to receive some of my birthday gifts early and one contained two incredible (and super cheap) highlighters. Thank you Dominika (you can follow my makeup obsessed friend here). Lovely Silver and Gold Highlighters aren't widely available in UK as it's a sister brand to a Polish owned Wibo, therefore only available there. These two gems cost only £2.00 each and the quality is comparable to my Becca highlights. Both shades are gorgeous on its own but I really love the effect of mixing these together. Silver is light pink champagne with silver finish. Gold is slightly darker pink champagne with gold finish. Both are incredible and will suit the palest of the pale. I love them.
This next fave was sent to me by a gorgeous Joanna (check out her beautiful Instagram page here). We've done a little makeup swap and one of the bits she chose for me was Essence Fun Fair Blush in Sweetheart's Sweet Tooth. It's pale pink blush with a pearl finish. Absolutely gorgeous. I've been using it so much lately !!!

ACCESSORIES:

As usual I like to share with you my favourite brush of the month. In July it's the GlamBrush T9. It a medium sized ball like face brush. It's got soft natural bristles and I love it for my bronzer/contour needs. It's the perfect size to fit underneath the cheekbones and it does the job for you. It's the only brush I use for contour lately (powders only). You can buy the brush from Glam-Shop and they do international shipping. The only minus is the webpage is all in English, so you may need to translate the page.

Thank You For Reading,
Love
