MONDAY WITH MAKEUP REVOLUTION: BEYOND RADIANCE PALETTE REVIEW + DUPE ALERT

Happy Makeup Revolution Monday ;) I have a very interesting new product to share with you today. Following the success of Makeup Revolution Radiance Palette, the company released Beyond Radiance back in April 2016. I feel in love with the soft, buttery formula when I swatch it during the MUR 2nd Birthday party and I ordered it as soon as I was able. It took me a while to start using it, but after couple of weeks of testing I can finally share with you my thoughts on this palette.

Packaging is a standard MUR shiny plastic, quite heavy, but still very plasticky. It's not cheap per se, but also nowhere close to perfection. Inside you'll find three fairly large pans of highlight/setting powders. Mirror is large and clear. The pans are surrounded with matte plastic and it's a shame, matte wasn't chosen for the whole packaging.

Formula is actually quite amazing, if I say so myself. All three shades are super soft and buttery with excellent pigmentation. They transfer easily when swatching. They all have a satin finish with just a tiny amount of micro glitter particles in sight, you practically can't see them.  You can use them to set your makeup with, if you're dry like me or a highlight. The powders are all finely milled and just a joy to work with.

Shades:

There are three shades. First is an off white satin with some glitter particles. It works beautifully against pale skin. It works great as a subtle highlight and the glitter isn't at all visible. The middle shade has pink tones and also have some micro glitter particles, which aren't transferable, so you can't really see them. It works great as a subtle highlight and again is quite beautiful for the palest of complexions. The Third shade is the only warmer shade in tone. It's almost beige with no glitter. It would work great as a setting powder, but may be a little too dark for someone as pale as me. It has a beautiful satin finish. Personally I would use both sparingly to set my makeup with for that glowing skin look that's so in right now. This method will only work on dry skin as powders are not 'strong' enough to hold makeup for combination and oily skin.

Dupe alert:

I compared Beyond Radiance palette to my Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit and two shades are near perfect dupes. The middle and last shade are to Iridescent Light & Diffused Light. The only difference is the Dim Light has more matte to satin finish, although to touch I actually prefer the softness of MUR powder. The real winner is the middle shade which in shade is identical to Iridescent Light but has less glitter which I prefer. In comparison the shades are nearly identical to Hourglass, in some aspects even better that the original. And the difference in price is huge!!!

Overview:

Makeup Revolution Beyond Radiance is a great addition to the Radiance family as it's more suitable for those with super pale complexions. I prefer it to the original Radiance palette. The shades are so soft, you will not believe that the palette costs pennies if compared to the Hourglass offerings. It's definitely a worthy purchase. As highlight the shades work really subtly but that effect is buildable. My personal fave is the first, off white shade. I like near white shades as they match my complexion beautifully. So for your day highlight needs you really don't need anything else. I prefer to use these as setting powders as I prefer my highlight to really stand out. For subtle contouring you can use the last shade if you're also super pale as me. It'll give your complexion a little colour so this can work on your work/school days when you don't really want to contour but you still want that 3D illusion to your face.

Makeup Revolution Beyond Radiance Palette costs £8.00 and is available from HERE.

Love

  1. I like these powders but haven't use them in months as I feel like they're better suited when I'm paler :) I don't find them better then the Hourglass ones though. x
