Hello lovelies. I'm coming to you today with first in the series of posts of my favourite picks for year 2015. Last year has been a pretty tough cookie, with a mixture of good and bad and I'm a little glad it's all behind me. 2015 dominated my beauty journey so I'd like to show you today what I've been loving in terms of skincare mainly with a little ad on to body and hair ;). Let's do this !!!
I turned 30 last year and my routine has changed and improved on, if I may say so myself. I concentrated on making sure my skin is hydrated and first wrinkles ironed off lol. The winner of 2015 is one and only COCONUT OIL. I buy mine in Sainsbury's (£6.00 FOR 300ml) and it's organic and cold pressed, which are two most important things to look for when buying oils :) Mine has many uses but mainly I use it to remove makeup, as a leave in treatment for hair, instead of shaving cream, to moisturise my body and sometimes as an overnight skin treatment. There are many uses and I'm planning on writing up a proper post about it but I have to say - it has stolen my heart last year and I can't see it going anywhere this year :)
To continue on makeup remover trend I discovered best drugstore micellar water last year and it's Simple Micellar Water. This stuff is so gentle on my dry skin, removes all makeup including mascara and leaves my prone to redness skin soft and beautiful. There's not much more to say about it - GENIUS !! I highly recommend you trying it :)
I love to exfoliate my skin. It's hard to find products that work well and leave my sensitive skin in good condition afterwards but I have two that work magic in my opinion. Firstly more expensive being Skin Pep Brightening Enzyme & Acid Peel. 5 years younger in a tub. It really works. I recommend it to anyone 25 years and plus. I think you'll love it. I use it once a week. For more of a daily (isn!!!) use, I'm choosing my amazing and fairly new find from Nip+Fab. Their Glycolic Fix Extreme Night pads gently exfoliate your skin and help its natural process of exfoliation. Superb !!
I love a good mask. This year I've been using and loving a lot of different ones but two became clear winners. Glamglow Youthmud has a special place in my bathroom cabinet. I use it once a week to brighten, exfoliate and tighten my skin. It's like taking away years in 10-20 minutes session. I don't know how it works exactly but I am yet to find a product that leaves my skin looking young, refreshed and deeply nourished. It's expensive but worth every penny !! Runner up place belongs to Nip+Fab Dragon's Blood Fix Plumping Mask. I like this one as an overnight treatment. It leaves my skin super soft and plumped. I use it weekly and my skin thanks me for it :)
Serums vice it's been a pretty close call. I have two that I currently use and love. My daytime serum award goes to Nip+Fab again !! Viper Venom Wrinkle Fix is one hell of a serum, it moisturises my dry skin, plumps up the wrinkles and leaves my face looking a little like I just had a mini lift. It's perfect under makeup too so I use it daily. Amazing stuff !! My nighttime serum is a little different, it's packed with retinol and perfect for autumn/winter months. It does work, my forehead wrinkles are reduced and it doesn't dry out my skin too much either. Great find from Insta Natural and their Age-Defying 2.5% Retinol Serum.
My biggest find and love for under-eyes in 2015 was Origins Planscription Anti-Aging Power Eye Cream. It's a recent arrival in my skincare but it's already dominated my routine. It deeply moisturises my under-eye area, leaving it soft and with less wrinkles after just a month or so of using it. I started using it for night only as I'm using a different one daytime but it's a clear winner ! Superb product and I just wish it was just a tad less expensive lol.
I have been looking for a moisturiser to wow me this year and I like few but nothing really stole my heart. On days when I feel like my skin feels very dehydrated I use Rodial Stemcell Super-food Glam Balm Multi. It has serious oily consistency so I only use it at night especially after retinol based products. It makes my skin super soft when I wake up in the morning but it takes a long time to skin in so it may stain your pillowcases ;)
Lastly it's the biggest hair product surprise of 2015 - Collab Dry Shampoo from Ruth (Model Recommends). This is a serious stuff as you probably know I love and used Batiste for years. Collab has completely changed the game for me, it's less powdery than Batiste, it leaves my hair with super volume (if used volumising one of course) and smell is incredible and I tested them all - definitely a winner in my eyes :)
That's it. My beauty favourites of the whole of 2015 are done. What do you think? What have you been loving this past year? was there any clear winners? Or maybe you can inspire my next skincare haul and recommend some face creams for me? Let me know in the comments below :) See you next Sunday with Best in Makeup 2015 edition, another extra post for January . Subscribe & don't miss out on any future posts.
