BLOGMAS #2 - LUXURY GIFT FOR MAKEUP OBSESSED: HOURGLASS AMBIENT LIGHTING EDIT

Hello my lovelies and welcome to the second episode in my first ever BLOGMAS :) Can you tell how excited I am for Christmas? I am, super duper excited, it's ridiculous how much I love December. Counting down to Xmas Eve is just the best <3

Today I'd like to talk to you about a perfect luxury gift for a makeup obsessed girls. Ambient Lighting Edit is a brand new limited edition from Hourglass and oh so perfect. My lovely friend has gifted it to me and I'm so thankful. It's pricey and at £65.00 won't be up everyone's street but let's have a look at it shall we and I'll explain why I love it so much :)

Top row from left: Dim Light, Iridescent Light, Diffused Light
Bottom row from left: Mood Exposure, Luminous Flush, Luminous Bronze Light
From left: Dim Light, Iridescent Light, Diffused Light (natural light)

Packaging:

There's nothing better than an Hourglass packaging. This is my first ever product and I am blessed to be able to test it out. I'm in love <3 Like a magpie I love anything shiny and this gorgeous old looking gold palette is just up my street :) It's still plastic of course, but it has a luxurious feeling to it. Inside you will find a large mirror - always handy for a face palette and 6 squares of products from two face powders, through one typical highlight, two blushes and one bronzer.

Formula:

I'm sure you heard so many amazing reviews about quality of these powders and let me tell you they are all correct. However when I first opened it and had a little feel, I wasn't raving about it at all. They are soft in touch, yes but I have seen softer formulas. It got me a little worried, I have to say, considering the price tag. That feeling lasted only until the first application. I already found my perfect base and I am loving Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue, but I was still after that perfect setting powder, not powdery, just illuminating and glowing.

Review:

I have no idea what's so different about these powders but OMFG Diffused Light has stolen my heart ! It does something incredible to my face. It's really light in texture, even with tiny amount of micro glitter but it's not visible on face at all. It sets my base so well and lasts forever but I have never seen my skin looking so healthy and glowing. Incredible. I use it on its own or mixed with Dim Light which again has the exact same effect. Iridescent  Light is one "proper" highlight in the palette. It gives you that perfect amount of glow without being overbearing. I just sweep it across all high points on my face during daytime for the understated, yet incredible highlight. You know that saying glow from within? These three powders do just that for me :)

Second row is all about the cheeks. Let me start with one I use the least which is the Luminous Bronze Light. It's a very light sweep of warm bronze colour, not too pigmented, perfect for lightly bronzing your face. I am not into bronzing at the moment, I just stick to light contour as I'm very pale and bronzing too much makes my face look unmatched with the rest of my skin. I will most definitely go back to it during spring/summer as it's a lovely shade, if little warm again with tiny amount of micro glitter. I use it a little on my temples and lightly on cheekbones for that healthy glow but it's the least used by me so far.

I finally know what Youtube blogger angels been singing about all these years and that are Hourglass blushers. OMG. Firstly, shades pigmentation is just perfect, not too pigmented yet only little does the job. Again they give you the perfect satin finish on your cheeks. Both colours are just gorgeous with Mood Exposure being my favourite for day to day looks and Luminous Flush for those strobing days. Again formula is just spot on. They stay on well.

To sum up, this is the perfect all over palette. It is the only one you need to finish your face makeup with setting powders, highlighter, blusher and bronzer, you really do not need to pack anything else if you travel or for day to day makeup bag. I tested it for over a month and my most used shade (and it's showing already !!!) is Diffused Light. I already know I will be repurchasing it full size.

The only minus to the palette is the size of the powders as the palette is actually quite small. Powders especially are little harder to get out given the usual size of the powder brush. I think the blush and highlight are perfect size, as I rarely use full size anyway.

I am super lucky to have such an amazing friends and been gifted this product as it's definitely a luxury bit you don't know you need until you get it. I think it would make an amazing Christmas gift to anyone who's into a little luxury or have been on a look out for that perfect face finish palette.

What are your thoughts on luxury makeup? I always want to know what you think, so let me know if there's anything you have on your xmas wishlist I probably should include in mine :)

Thank you for reading.
Love,

Dorota x

  1. I have the three products in the bottom row, but if I didn't, I would be very tempted to buy this. Instead, I'm thinking I might just get the powder palette! xx

  4. I would love this palette, and I wish someone would give it to me, lol. But I must make myself wear the Ambient powder that I bought a while back that the MUA selected for me but I think is too dark :(
