Going back to the basics - Naked Basics 2. Best neutral matte eyeshadow palette out there?

Hello my lovelies. It's Thursday and I'm excited for the end of the week being so close :) We had a Bank Holiday weekend so my week only started on Tuesday but I'm looking forward to the weekend and I hope to smash my weekend posts this week :)

Today I'd like to talk to you about matte eyeshadows. As an owner of hooded eyes (why ooh why !!!!) I tend to use a lot of matte eyeshadows on a daily basis. I've been a proud owner of Naked Basics 2 since Christmas and it has been one of the palettes I use daily and take with me when I'm away. Why, you ask, well let me tell you...

Le's start with packaging. Naked 2 Basics comes in a sleek, soft-touch case with suedette feel. It's very sleek and compact making it a perfect travel/makeup bag choice.

Formula is enriched with Urban Decay Pigment Infusion System which makes the shades very buttery and lovely to blend. Staying power is great however I always use an UD Primer to ensure I have my eyeshadow on, in perfect shape all day long.

Palette features 6 neutral, taupe shades. It's gorgeous. Perfect for everyday looks that last. I found my perfect taupe shade within this palette. It's Frisk, one shade I use the most. Be that for crease shade or to full in my brows. Frisk does it all and it's just perfect !!

From left: Skimp, Stark, Frisk
From left: Cover, Primal, Undone
Skimp - the only satin finish shade. Perfect for subtle highlighting, this champagne coloured shade looks gorgeous in the inner corner for your daytime look.

Stark - matte beige shade. Great as a all over the lid colour and to set your eyeshadow primer.

Frisk - matte light grey-ish taupe. Great for transition colour, in the crease or as a brow filler for blondes.

Cover - matte the warmest shade, still not warm but of a very light chestnut mixes with a little grey. Lovely shade to deepen your crease.

Primal - matte cool, medium brown shade. Great to deepen your crease, for outer corners etc. I also use it to  fill in my brows on the arch.

Undone - matte cool, dark taupe. Great as an eyeliner or for outer corner. I love Undone, so much better to have than a matte black shade in my opinion.

I adore my Naked Basics 2 and wouldn't change it for any other matte palettes I own. Pigmentation is good, blending is so easy and it's one UD palette I don't have any problems with. Definitely worth the price !!

You can get your UD Basics 2 here for £23.

Thank you for reading.
Love,

Dorota x

    1. Polecam jasne odcienie z Inglot albo Mac albo Make Up Forever x zawsze tak jest z tymi jasnymi niestety. Paletki too faced mają większe te cienie ale tak samo jest z paletami czekoladowymi od MUR :)

  2. I don't have 2 but I have UD Naked Basics and I like it a lot for an everyday, no makeup-makeup look. I often take it when traveling on business for an understated look

    1. It's perfect for traveling. I personally take it with me wherever I go. It's tiny and sleek and you can do a work/daytime and evening toned evening looks with it. Formula of shadows is great and I prefer my Basics 2 to any full sized Naked palettes I own :)
