£4 setting powder will make you rethink your Hourglass purchase - MUA Prime & Conceal Powder review.

Hello my lovelies. It's Tuesday so we're back to work here in UK after having a long Bank Holiday weekend. Weather is a disgrace which makes me a little sad but also makes me think of all the beautiful autumn makeup that is to come sooner than we expected.

I'd like to talk to you today about my newest discovery that I'm loving at the moment. Make Up Academy Pro-Base Prime & Conceal Powder is a little gem I recently discovered whilst browsing in Superdrug. It's only £4 and it quickly became my one and only setting powder. It was love from the first brush :)

Packaging - as with any MUA packaging you get what you pay for, plastic is little on a cheaper side however I like that it is in white. It feels quite sturdy so I hope it won't break anytime soon.

Formula - oh so silky, very finely milled. It gives you a lovely satin finish, perfect for those hating a matte finish powders. It doesn't have any glitter particles of course, but gives a glow finish worthy that of the Hourglass powders.

Powder comes with 4 shades. I mix it all together and set my makeup with it. It's so light in consistency yet it sets my makeup perfectly extending the life of my Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue that I'm loving at the moment.

It's all about dewy skin at the moment. Strobing is so big and we see it everywhere. I love highlighting my face but on the days where I just want my skin to be dewy I opt in for this powder alone. It's great for setting your foundation as well as your concealer. Seriously ladies, don't miss out on this one !! I think you will love it :)

It's an amazing find and buy at £4 per pot it won't break a bank. You can find it in your local super drug too so it's easy to buy. I'm totally in love with it and stopped using my MAC setting powder in favour of this one. Buy it here now.

What do you think? Have you tried this little gem yet? Let me know in the comments below.

Thank you for reading.
Love,

Dorota x

  1. I haven't tried this one, but it reminds me of KIKO Colour Correction Powder, which I personally love!

  4. I don't have this particular product, but I did receive a bright purple powder in a Memebox months ago, and I don't know what to do with it. I don't know if it would work as a setting powder. Is it a base? To cover what? Any ideas???

    1. Hmm that's definitely tricky. Purple should beautifully contradict any dull colouring so maybe try it to set your powder with it. I find that with this powder mixing all shades gives me a lovely finish :) And it's not chalky at all. With my drier than dry skin that's saying a lot :)

    2. I wish the writing on the packaging wasn't in Japanese. I hate to go to the trouble of doing my face and then putting bright, and I mean BRIGHT, purple over it. But it is definitely a face powder, not an eyeshadow. Guess I'll try it some day when I'm staying at home!

    3. I like products where you get to have different languages on packaging, helps different users. I don't see a point of only one language and being delivered to you where you obviously don't know it. Try it at least once, see what happens. I love this powder so much, makes my face look bright and full of glow :)

  6. Too bad we don't have MUA here, otherwise, i would've grabbed it as well. Good to know though, i do have friends in UK and they can get it for me ^_^
One thing: does it look cakey? especially under eye area?

    1. I must say I don't love MUA the way I love MUR but some products they certainly know how to charm me :) It doesn't look any cakey that's really crazy. I staple my skin first and then lightly buff and it makes my skin perfect for many hours. Plus it gives you a glow without any glitter. Quite incredible for a £4 powder.
