Tanya Burr's Lip Glosses under the radar. Are they worth the hype?

Hello lovelies. Today I'd like to talk to you about lip glosses. In general I'm not a fan. I have long hair that I'd like to keep loose and with the constant wind (Hello Britain lol) it's just not the most easy thing to wear on your lips. I also find most very drying. Ok I love matte lips too and matte colours tend to dry my lips too but at least I know what I'm paying for - perfect lips for several hours :)

I love Tanya Burr. She is such a sweetheart, super cute Youtube machine. Yet I've seen her beauty line when it launched and I never really wanted anything. I rarely wear falsies so that wasn't my cup of tea and I don't like lip glosses. Having seen Tanya apply her lip glosses on her videos I became bit more interested as they seemed to have a lovely colour payoff and as the name suggest they were so glossy ;) Finally on my weekly (LIAR - daily) trip to Superdrug I picked one up. I applied it later on and found the nude colour to be a little too nude for me if you know what I mean. However I found that lip gloss, although just a teensy bit sticky (which I don't mind at all) lasted for good two hours and after it was gone it left a nourishing layer on top of my lips for another 3 hours afterwards.

Having said all that colour by itself was really light so I started to experiment with adding a little on top of my nude lipsticks. That's how I found my perfect combo: MAC's Kinda Sexy and Tanya Burr's Chic :) If I want a nude lip these days that's what I will go for :)

I wanted more :) This time I wanted to pick up a more "me" colour and after seeing swatches everywhere I've chosen Aphrodite. What a happy surprise it was, that I found it on Fragrance Direct for £1.99 :) In the basket it went, alongside a little MAC extra, but that's the story for another time.

The moment I opened the package I knew that Aphrodite may quickly become my favourite lip gloss ever. It's has a raspberry tone to it and it's just lovely pinky, red and glossy at the same time. What's not too love. Pigmentation as for a lip gloss is pretty great and again it lasts well on my lips. Even once the colour goes off it leaves a comfortable layer on top of your lips and you don't feel like you need to use a lip treatment afterwards.

I've done some scary close up swatches for you as well as standard photos and I will leave you to judge if you like them or not :)

I'm a new convert to lip glosses thanks to Tanya Burr collection :) Will I be getting more? Probably not as these two will last me forever and as I said before, I don't wear lip gloss that often. Aphrodite will end up in my work makeup bag as a quick during a day fix, that's for sure :)

You can get them at Superdrug for £6.99 here or specific shades at discounted price of £1.99 at Fragrance Direct here. Also check out Tanya's YT channel if you don't already stalk her online ;)

Hope you enjoyed my ramblings today and I hope to see you next time :) Don't forget to subscribe :)

Thanks for reading.
Love,

Dorota

  2. Oh, I love love love Aphrodite on you! Gorgeous! I hear ya about lipgloss. I'm not always a fan either especially on windy days, but I've tried some very nice glosses over the past few months so I wear them more often than I used to...on days with little to no wind. I like the pigmented glosses like Aphrodite. So lovely, enjoy it!

    1. Thank you so much. I really like Aphrodite. It has the perfect pigmentation vs transparency thing going. It's bang on in the middle. They smell lovely however I was a little disappointed in Chic - it looked so much better on Tanya but then on her lips any lipgloss would haha :) However by adding a little on top of MAC's Kinda Sexy I discovered my favourite nude glossy combo which is always a plus :) Thank you for your lovely comment x

  3. I don't have super long hair but I don't wear a lot of gloss for the same reason. I always end up with my hair stuck to my lips. Usually when I wear it, it's inly on the middle of my lips to make my color pop a little. I do like that Aphrodite color on you though. It's the perfect raspberryish color.

    1. Thank you :) I do like defined colours which may be why I think Chic is to washed out on me :) Don't get me wrong. I like nude. Just prefer nude in matte or with a little lipgloss on top. As long as I can still get some definition :) Wearing lip gloss is so hard though. It normally just ends up everywhere ;)

  4. I haven't tried the Tanya Burr lip glosses yet, I was worried that the hype was because of peoples love for her rather than the products themselves but you've really tempted me with your review xxx

    1. It took me ages to actually buy any because I wasn't really interested in what products she actually launched. I find them very soothing which is great because my lips are super dry. They don't last that long, no lipgloss ever does but I like the after feeling of that little protective film :) Thanks for your lovely comment hun x

    1. Same hun :) I only wear chic on top of any other nude lipstick now. It's just too pale on its own for me :)
